1 week into flower. Any Advice? PICS

Swim is 1 week and 2 days into 12/12 on his first grow with a 400 watt bulb. Swim started the babies outside and moved em into the controlled setup to start flowering on July 3rd. 2 of them were trained to grow sideways during veg and kept that way since. The other one was topped at about the 6-7th node and started training on both tops yesterday.

There is the one visible fan toward the top of the grow, which oscillates and produces a good amount of airflow, and there is one in the back laying down that blows up at the plants, but is not very strong. 400 watt bulb.

Swim uses Fox Farm nutes following the schedule on their website.

Any comments or suggestions? Thanks :bigjoint:

Sativa-dominant girls look good! The 3-gallon pots you got them in are exactly what I would use.
Because of the sativa genetics your plant will take quite a while to finish. And with a 400W bulb
you need to keep the light as close to them as you can. Hold your hand on the top of the plant.
If your hand feels warm, that is too close to the light. So jack the light close and you will likely
finish after 9-10 weeks flowering.

Good luck, BigSteve.

They're very large for sativas under a 400 watt light. You're gonna have fun at conopy control in that space.

They look beautiful, nicely done.

I know! I'm starting to get worried.. I was gonna let em grow naturally outside, but they were getting to big out there so i borrowed this from a buddy after like 6 weeks. I'm just gonna have to keep pulling em down and make some nice cluster-bushes.

Anyone wanna make yield guesses?? I'll keep updating as they grow.

Well, when you're training them, dont get frustrated, be patient. It'll come together in the end.

I do predict a "help, my plants are out of control" thread in about three weeks though... :D

I keep my 400watt about 6 inches away from the plants throughout flowering. Give them one more week of veg nutrients then swap to bloom heavy nute.

My lower leaves are turning yellow. I've read up on it and it seems to be a nitrogen deficiency. Any advice on fixing this problem during the flowering stage?

Pics?

During flowering the demand for nitrogen goes down, and the demand for phosphorous goes up. When supplementing with phosphorous (ie blossom blaster) during flowering, its common for the leaves to turn yellow, thats the increased phosphorous intake, and naturally lower nitrogen intake.

Here are some pics of the yellow leaves at the bottom and a new problem that i started noticing yesterday, the leaves of a few leaves are turning yellowish brown, but only where the lower fan is blowing so i turned it off for now.

Yes, I changed the nutes from veg to flowering, what exactly do i need to do to fix the yellow leaves? any help?

Oh, and sorry to everyone giving me a hard time for using "swim", I am new to this forum and was just used to using it elsewhere, throw me a bone here..

Looks also like a Mg issue from the pics.

The time after switching to 12/12 is called 'the stretch' and it's a period of fast structural growth. You need to keep up your veg ferts for 10 days of so after switching to 12/12. Some of the yellowing you're seeing may be the plant drawing nitrogen away from existing leaves to support that structural growth. The plants N needs in flower diminish after the stretch.
