I like to grow one plant under with CFL in my living room. Just to use her as decoration plus to get some clones. No flowering need it.
Q:
what CFL to use?
how strong the smell will be?

TIA

you should use 6500K bulb . one that's around 100 true watts. it shouldn't smell much if at all if you just keep her in Veg state

Thank a lot man.
So it would be this one ?
No problem man. yup that one will work . just make sure you place it horizontally over head of your plant .some sort of reflector would go a looooong way since you only gonna have 1 bulb .

Hi ivon, why not check out the giabt cfl bulbs you can get, perfect for autos, add a timer & make a carbon filter with Ona gel or activated carbon, built into 6in piping, with green scourer to filter out dust, drill lots if holes in pipe, block one end or same way but small amount of ona gel.Throw any smell at it! The bulbs have two sides, one half of bulb in blue spectrum & red in other, the auto takes whats needed when needed, comes in 125w or 300w or more,125w is fine for one plant or clones & 300w is fine for 1+ plants. The bulbs are cheap to run,no heat problems & just one bulb instead of many 40w bulbs.Depends where u live but if in uk message me & i'll let you know. You can get fan cooled shades, twin bulb shade & holders for 2 300w bulbs.Rememember to wipe fingerprints off from bulb after fixing as greasy prints left will heat bulb & go bang.I found out.

Thank you Dabolili and CG.
Let me explain what I have in mind.

I already have grow room setup and just coming up with some other alternatives to save some valuable space and end up with perpetual grow.

"If" I can grow my mother in living room that would be great. She will be used only to produce clones so no flower is necessary.
I would like her to sit and look as a normal green plant and when I get visited it would be ok or most just part of conversation. No big deal. As you told me that strong smell is not issue, that makes it also great. I am the only one who will sit about 1'-2' away from her. I would use the same light that I will provide her with to work as well etc. I will put her on timer plus as I have 3 windows that get light in as well. She would sleep from 1 to 7am (well me to). As I already keeping my temp at 26c is also convenient saving. I only have to bring to humidity up from 27 to 45 with some invention and I am done. I would like to keep it as KISS as possible. No exhaust, filter, fan or special shades. Just as a house plant - one light bulb with normal shade (prefer vertical) and be done with. Yes, I would like to know what is the lowest wattage and type I can get away with to keep the el.bill down. IF this will work, I can use my grow room with 2xMH 600w (also have 2xHPS 600w for flower), fan, heating, humidifier, exhaust etc, that will be divided in to two and I will maybe achieve my perpetual growth.

Next I have to figure out what seed I will start with. The seeds I have are: Aurora, Chaotic, Northern Lights, and Sunsi Star. Any input is welcome.

So recap: what's the lowest wattage light bulb (vertical application) and what's the best seed to start with.

200 watt equivalent CFL . they're 42 true watts . ~10$ in stores I think . you can try and start with that . I would recommend Northern Lights simply because I've grown it and you won't have any smell issues

Would you be kind enough and choose "the" one for more application from here. I'll take it from there. Good news about the Northern Light ;)

I am getting REALLY confused ---

How about just ONE light bulb, standard socket and the lowest wattage I can get away with..
picture, url, would be fine.

WOW - thanks Dabolli - that is PERFECT.

Now I just have to find it in Czech republic. At least that gives me something to go by. (lucky you people in USA - as usual)

Hmm, stuck again. I am on 230V (how sweet). That takes care of that :( Need to find the same one in EU.......

I grew this plant with 1 14 watt 5000 kelvin bulb.IMG_0132.jpg

Eventually I added one more same as the first one.IMG_0334.jpg

Now she looks like this, IMG_0403.jpgIMG_0404.jpgIMG_0405.jpgIMG_0406.jpgIMG_0407.jpgIMG_0444.jpg

For the first 6 weeks with one then 2 thereafter. Hope you get similar results. Good luck.

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME - just what the doctor order ;)

So, I should be just fine with 26W - 6500k CFL to have ONE nice looking green plant in the living room that will as decoration and getting clones off here at the same time. Low cost mother that will produced 20 clones per month. (am I dreaming?)

Short and sweet ----> perfect!
I'm sure your glad so just be patient this plant (Zephy I call her) is almost 12 weeks old. She grows real slow, just keep light like 1 1/2 inches AKA 38.100mm away. I don't know about 20 cloney's a month. For that you'll need serious light. I just took 4 cloney's from Zephy this morning, I could have taken like 4 more. I took 2 from her 20 days ago and I don't see any regeneration. I read from Al B. Fuct posts that he is using a 400 watt. Quote:

The mums are maintained under 24 hour 400W HPS. The clonebox has 6x 18W fluoro tubes (24"), usually on 24/7 but shut off for the first 6-8 hours after doing a new batch of cuttings.

Clones go straight from the clonebox into the flowering trays- no vegging required. They grow a little bit vegetatively for the first 3-4 weeks but then stop getting taller and start making bud weight after then.

I keep about 6-8 mothers and do about 30 cuttings every 2 weeks from them. I choose the best 20-23 clones to be put in the 4-tray flowering area.

Of course he's using hydroponics to. I've been reading his posts like the Bible. Again I hope this helps.

Thanks for the like.
