I have 2 1k hps lamps that are side by side and one of the balast burned up. Lucky for me it didn't start a fire!! Will the tray without the light over it be ok for a day? Can't get another one until tomorrow. Anybody ever have this happen before? I'm hoping the other light will hold me over for the night.

Having one light only for one day should keep your photoperiod intact. If it's a magnetic ballast, replacement capacitors/igniters are available for an inexpensive repair. cn

I was thinking it would be ok for a day, not sure if it's magnetic or not. It's an old sun lamp i got back in 03, gonna just replace it. Thanks for the respnse

Any reason this burned up? I'm tapped in from my pool which my buddy, who is a pool guy said it could run 4 lamps at once if i wanted to.

I would say its somewhere between a 90 and 95% chance the ballast is fine and either the cap or ignitor went out. Why did it burn up? Cause you got it in 03 and probably used the hell out of it, but even that length of time is only about 25% or so of the life expectancy of the actual ballast.
