I'm starting 20 seeds each in 1 gallon pots with just foxfarm soil, my question is will they get root bound before I can determine sex and transplant?

I have a 1000 watt mh/hps with all the necessary equip, will keep them on a 18/6 schedule, and I will only be feeding them flora nova nutes and bat guano in small amounts.....and the strains are as follows(all from seed):

1) BB kush
2) trainwreck x white rhino f2
3)Og kush x ??????
4) afghani x gdp f1

Oh yea I will be hand feeding too, so my question is will they get root bound before I can determine the sex and transplant to a bigger container?

probably. but one of those strains may show prefloweres early.

One Foot For Every Gallon Of Dirt In A Pot,and Some Of Those Strains You Can Pre-sex. Once They Have 5 To 6 Nodes On The Main Stem You Can See What There Going To Be. If You Need To Find Out About Pre-flowering Check Out Robert Clarke's Book On Marijauna Botany. And You Pre-sex It Saves Time Cloning Your Plants Then.

i have a quick question...if u dont want your plants to grow tall..could you leave then in small pots??..the reason i ask is cause im growin in a cab..and i could fit a certain amount of pots in..and they have to be a certain size for all of them to fit perfectly..

No, you cant. Well you can if you want them to suffer immense stress and die off. If they get pot bound they will suffer.

ok..how do u knoe when they get root bound??
roots grow out bottom, growth slows drastically.

You can wait untill the soil gets bone dry and pull the soil clump out of the pot and look at the roots, youll know if theyre rootbound cuz youll see nothing but matted roots.

pull it out only as a final confirmation before deciding to repot. Meaning, once youve looked at all other things pull it out. "All other things" would be factors that only you know, like, how big is the pot they are in now, how long have they been in it, how big are the plants, are roots coming out bottom.

For instance if they were in a one gallon grow bag, and the roots are coming out bottom but theyve only been in the bag for a week then its not time to repot and you shouldnt pull it out of pot. But if the roots are coming out, theyre in a one gal grow bag and theyve been in it for a month and a half and you plan on continuing the grow you need to repot. Check it by pulling it out as a last measure.

Shoot, you'll be fine to grow all the way through budding with 1 gallon pots just dont let em turn into monsters,im using ALL 1 gallon pots for 3 ft plants with excellent results.

By the time your in bud a week or two you water every day with 1 gallon pots, thats a good thing.

Dude your fine man. Why are you trippin. IT would take five or six months to outgrow a five gallon pot.

Do you think your plant is potbound because of a problem it is having. if so what are the symptoms.

Negative on the Big Bud Transplant, look at my avatar, that was a Big Bud grown in soil using 3 gallon pots, the cola was as long as my forearm,im doing Big Bud & Top 44 in 1 gallon pots this time round, last round i used 3 gallon pots on everything & grew 4 footers & coulda went up to 5 or 6 ft,it's all in the watering.

Keep this in mind, hydro is a faster way to grow over soil,a big part of the reason for faster growth is increased oxygen delievery to the root system, with smaller pots you get to water more often, this brings in new fresh oxygen every time you water,as long as you keep up on the watering you'll be fine & you should experience healthier plants & possibly faster growth.

Smaller pots also eleminate the chance of overwatering once the plants are a foot tall, any over feding problems can be corrected very fast with a simple flush & the soil will be dry in a day or two & ready to get back on track with the grow.

Dont get caught up on pot size, the soil is the medium for water & nutrient delievery, thats it,nothing more, keep them watered & fed properly with a quality fert that has enough micro nutes & pot size is irrelevant.

Check out a thread that FDD2BLK wrote titled "It's all bullshit",reading that thread taught me alot.
