Not really sure what you're asking? I'd say if the plants are going to finish around 12-18" 1gal is probably enough but if you veg longer then 2 is preferred. It's all relative, more pot size=more root mass=supports bigger plant.

There are big differences in soil coco and hydroton growing so I would recommend you research them before starting.

I'm wanting to try a sog with around 60 1 gallon pot from rooted clones straight to flower I'm asking should I stick to the Coco I've been using or hydroton I forgot to mention in the original post its flood and drain and for any other tips with this type of set up

You're running 1000-watts of LED in a 4x4? Overkill much? I think 60-plants in a 4x4 is gonna be pretty tight, and not get you any yield increase over 25 plants in the same space.

Use coco. 1 gallon fabric pots. Figure out a way to irrigate that doesn't involve hand watering. Fabric pots on a capillary mat is one way. 8x8=64. Good luck.

I want to do that myself but plant count limits prevent it.

Capillary mats work great, but you need to be careful, as they are also a great harbor for pathogens.
