Sounds like you had different phenotypes , that can affect flowering times , yield , potency , flavors, etc.....

My opinion is you can do much better splitting the soil up like this: Take the 7 gallons of dirt and fill two 3 gallon pots and a 1 gallon. Or Take the same dirt and fill three 2 gallon pots and a 1 gallon. I only have experience with indoor.
