Ph pens cant read organics, so thats not going to help. In my opinion , sell the ph pen or just throw it on the shelf for other purposes.
If you are using good dry amendments and good soil then you will not need to ph anything ever. its a complete waste of time in my opinion.
Ph down will not "hurt' things in organics as much as people think BUT @Kushash is dead on in assuming 4 out of 5 new growers are making things worse by reading their ph.
Fact is , in good soil, you can water with 8.7 for 6 months before seeing a slight change in medium ph. (by then 99.9% of us are in new soil or medium)
