If you're planning on curing it for two weeks while you're gone, you realize the jars have to be burped twice a day to prevent the build up of mold, right? And temps below 60 can slow growth.April can be iffy here in the midwest.

Sorry to be the voice of reason here but I feel this is tragically flawed for several reasons.
1. Plant date - for Midwest - the last frost day is basically May 1st. You may be able to get away planting a week or two early but there's really no point because see #2
2. You won't harvest until October - unless you have some way to make sure the plants get 12 hours of dark every night. If you don't ensure 12 hours of darkness you aren't getting any flowers till October.

This is just so messed up on so many levels...

So basically you need to put them in pots and grow them outdoors and force the flowering. This means for 9 weeks you are going to be hauling them into a dark area for 12 hours every night. Doable - YES. Convenient - NO. A benefit would be however that you could probably plant them before the frost date in containers and take them outside to grow. You could even germinate in late feb if you have some indoor lights and could veg for a bit using CFLs...

Good luck - it can be done it would just be a pain in the arse.

i just had a moment. He could plant auto-flowering strains...wouldn't get as big or yield as much but i'm interesting in seeing what an auto would do grown outdoors

And, if you mean actual green light..that's useless to your plants...I thought maybe you meant some magical plant tonic I had never heard of....:bigjoint:
