Cannot figure out cause of rapid ph drop

All, I just wanted to update everyone on my grow. It's been 3 weeks since my last post, and I haven't seen any rapid pH swings since. To recap, I went from 5.8 to 3.2 overnight, 2 days in a row. Now, I do see a slowly decreasing pH over a span of 3-4 days, going from 5.8 to 5.5. Usually by...

Cannot figure out cause of rapid ph drop

Malevolence, when I got that first 3.2 reading, my heart skipped.... After double and triple checking, I broke out the 7.0 calibration solution, re-calibrated, re- checked and also checked my usually 7.1 tap water. After all that I was still getting the 3.2 to 3.3. I'll definitely repost my...

Cannot figure out cause of rapid ph drop

I just had a similar situation where my pH dropped from 5.8 to 3.2 overnight! I adjusted back up and added more water, and the same thing happened the following day. Up until that time, my pH had been rock solid from res change to res change, with this occurring in week 4 of flower. I had...

    Veg duration- How long?

Hi All, I'm a newbie using a bubbleponics system. I have 1feminized Nirvana Northern Lights growing in veg. Day 0 was Aug 12th, so it's been about 6 weeks since she was started germination. Everything looks to be going great and I've avoided any root or pH issues this grow. I fimmed her at...

Newbie transplant question: Rockwool seedling to coco

Thanks jondamon and DeeTee. I guess I just have to wait for the roots to break through the rw.

Newbie transplant question: Rockwool seedling to coco

Hi All, I'm a new grower with a bubbleponics system and I have 2 newly sprouted seedings in rockwool in the netcups. I'd like to take one of the seedlings and grow it in pot of coco coir and perlite, while leaving the other in the BP. What's the best way to do this? Can I just dig a small...

Another Newbie Question: Is it OK to make up a weeks worth of water with nutes?

Hi Everyone, Thanks for the great discussion. Last night I did a res change. I emptied, scrubbed and rinsed the res, air stone and pump before adding new water. The water looked cloudy, but i wouldn't say it smelled rotten, but it did have an "organic" smell to it. There were some loose...

Another Newbie Question: Is it OK to make up a weeks worth of water with nutes?

Thanks BlackMesa. I really appreciate the time you've taken to respond. I do adjust my tank daily due to it rising back up to the 7.0 range. I adjust it when I see that it is that high, so I don't know how high it might go. When I adjust, I bring it down between 5.0 and 5.5. I've stopped...

Another Newbie Question: Is it OK to make up a weeks worth of water with nutes?

Superstoner, I've been using liquid nutes (GH flora) for the past 3 weeks. I was using the SH packets but it never seemed to totally dissolve regardless of how much mixing I did. I'm currently using GH pH down powder, but I plan on switching to liquid once that has been used up. For whatever...

Another Newbie Question: Is it OK to make up a weeks worth of water with nutes?

Interesting. Does that mean you adjust your pH directly into the bucket? I've been mixing outside the res using a small bottle with water and the pH down powder. I didn't want to run the chance that the powder didn't dissolve completely and just build up on the bottom of the res.

Another Newbie Question: Is it OK to make up a weeks worth of water with nutes?

Thanks SS. With the SH powdered nutes, the directions said to pH the water prior to adding the nutes. I assumed that the nutes are always pH balanced, so adding to pH water either didn't matter, or was still the preferred way. I did check the pH at the end of the mixture as well, and it...

Another Newbie Question: Is it OK to make up a weeks worth of water with nutes?

Hi all, I was wondering if it's ok for me to make a 6 gallon bucket of water+nutes in advance to be used through out the week? I have a couple large buckets from when I used to brew beer. I was thinking I could do this: Res change: clean and inspect res to eliminate foreign material that...

Newbie First Grow: SH Bubbleponic with CFL's; Need help

Thanks Blunt, I'll keep the "no nute until 4 weeks" rule in mind on my next grow. I've thought about starting another seedling off but realized that it would be difficult to start without having a separate system to grow her in since I'm using nutes in the current res. Also, 1 of my 3 plants...

Newbie First Grow: SH Bubbleponic with CFL's; Need help

Thanks Bluntologist, I had followed the guide written on "growweedeasy.com". That guide had the seeds germinate right in the rockwool with pH'd water and no nutes and no lights. As soon as the seed germinated, I turned the lights on, but made sure it wasn't too hot on a 24 hours cycle. For...

Newbie First Grow: SH Bubbleponic with CFL's; Need help

Hi Dtischerd. I'm using the standard bubbleponics Res, which looks like it's an 8 gallon rubbermaid. It has (6)- 3.5" net cup holes already there in a 3x2 pattern. I'm using 3 of them, all at the corners. I initially planted only 2, but one of them broke away from the seed at germination and...

Newbie First Grow: SH Bubbleponic with CFL's; Need help

Thanks, superstoner1. Honestly, I didn't know there was a "proper" pH adjuster. The stuff that came with my kit from SH was powder, and I had seen the General Hydroponics mentioned quite a bit, so I figured it was ok. Is liquid better because it dissolves easier, or are there other benefits...

Confused as hell...will wall recepticle operate 1000w hps on 100%

Running 220V won't solve anything unless your light is made to handle it. Motors, for example, would need to be changed to 220V by re-wiring the terminations to the 220V set up. Household 220V is really only 2 independent 110V circuits so the appliance can run at lower current draw (amps)...

Newbie First Grow: SH Bubbleponic with CFL's; Need help

Hi everyone. I'm about 5 weeks into my first grow and it has been a rollercoaster ride trying to manage this thing. Things were looking great up until a few days ago, at which point things have tanked quickly. My Setup: SH Bubbleponics, set up in a cabinet in the basement. CFL's ( 8 ) x 42...
