Be careful and check them every 12 hours or so to make sure they don't develop any mold.

If I remember correctly the cure for this is to throw them into a jar with a leaf or two ( anything with some moisture will work ) and let the leaf rehydrate the buds.

Exactly correct. 12 / 12 is ideal because it always for the "flowering hormone" to build up for the longest amount of time and then allow the light to utilize that "flowering hormone".

My nutrient line calls for weekly changes. I personally do bi weekly changes with "top offs" weekly bringing my PPM back into a desirable range. (Usually around 800 veg). You should be able to use the water for most other plants, I have and do and they seem to love it.
