9/30 update, 1 week from OP: My girls buds have noticeably increased in size, gotten frostier, both the main cola and the secondary budding sites, although still relatively puny compared to the liter bottle size colas other posters have. In any case, I'm happy I'm letting them go another 2 weeks...
