I have always removed the leaves below canopy level on my scrog. By way of an experiment, I haven't done any trimming on my current grow. It's four weeks into 12/12 and seems fine at the moment. I'll post the results in another month.

Uncle Ben's Gardening Tweeks and Pointers

Thanks for that, and for the reminder of the importance of a scientific approach. It's hard for me when I only have my judgement to rely on. Don't know anyone else who is into gardening. I'm wondering if I might be a little over on the niter - It would make sense if I have a couple of phenos...

Uncle Ben's Gardening Tweeks and Pointers

Interesting article I have defoliated a little below the level of my scrog in the past to promote air movement in what is a very cramped space, but have decided not to this time as a test, and it is currently very dense down there. Next time I may do four plants partially defoliated and four...

Uncle Ben's Gardening Tweeks and Pointers

I have a 720cfm in my 4.3 cubic meter room, so I'm a little bit less than you on the air movement. My temperature at canopy level doesn't get above 67F though. Do you think the leaf curl is a heat issue? I will take some more photos later to illustrate it better. I am considering adding a...

Hello Enter the Scrog Firstly, thanks for all the past info on the thread. It has been very helpful. I have been working on my system for a couple of years now, and would value any input you have. Details as follows: I have 8 plants @ day 21 of flower. The strain is Afgooey (afghan x maui...

Uncle Ben's Gardening Tweeks and Pointers

Is that because of the issues with the hot air stratifying at the top of the room? It took me a while before I cottoned on to that one and installed a good sized fan pointing at the floor to mix it up a bit. Before that, even with quite a bit of air movement on the horizontal plane, it was...

Thanks too Doer I see what you're saying After wasting god knows how much time and money with the cannabis specific lines, my current grow is running fine with just some nicely amended soil and a box of miracle gro 24-3-13 fert. In the past I followed the manufactures guidelines to the letter...

Uncle Ben's Gardening Tweeks and Pointers

Thanks UB I take your advice seriously and will run a test of four with myco and four without. I may as well as I have half a pot of the powder left over Have 8 lovely bushes that have not seen any feeding as yet - just the Jacks compost. Hopefully they'll stay this green right the way through

Uncle Ben's Gardening Tweeks and Pointers

Thanks for the advice UB I tend to make things a little complicated! I would like to endorse the rootball scoring technique. I have noticed significantly faster growth when scoring and then potting up. I have also been using the plant magic mycorrhizal granules recently, and believe they...

Uncle Ben's Gardening Tweeks and Pointers

Hi Ub and all Firstly, thanks to all regular contributors to this thread - along with the Mel Franks book it has been of great help in persuading me to (mostly) abandon cannabis specific products and gain some understanding of basic plant biology. I have a question about organics: From what...

    Just some answers please

It might be wise to - a 600 watt hps shouldn't be any closer than 12 inches to the plants unless you have a cooltube. Headroom can be an issue with closet growing as I've found to my cost on a couple of occasions!

    Just some answers please

Nice Man Your plants look fine, but don't go picking off any leaves unless they are more than 50% damaged. Also, you should be aware that they will pretty much double in size once you throw them into 12/12 Have a look at Uncle Bens gardening tweeks and pointers thread on this site - it's full...

    Biobizz...your thoughts?

Hey, read your post on biobizz - i'm using it and have been having some problems. I germinated my seeds in all-mix, and they haven't been looking very happy. Do you start yours off in low nute compost and transfer them after a few weeks? If so, how long do you leave them before you start...

Plant Moisture Stress - Symptoms and Solutions

They are still exhibiting quite bad leaf burn, are growing slowly, and have yellow patches on their leaves. The soil is 25 degrees C. I am keeping the it constantly damp - should I be leaving them to dry out a bit more between waterings? Also, my lights are on 24 hours - I have had mixed...

Plant Moisture Stress - Symptoms and Solutions

Hi Ub, I need the benefit of your xperience! I started a number of plants from seed about a month ago and they have been exhibiting pretty bad leaf burn for the last couple of weeks. they are about 12" below a 250w bank of florescents and they are potted in specialist compost (which has a 5%...
