Growing next to a field, outdoor? "The man's thermal cameras" search heat, meaning lights in your grow room. If you're growing outside you need to worry about animals, insects, other people, and ofcourse the helicopters that do fly over. As for soil, best bet would be to import your own.

Did you plant the root up or down? And how much are you watering them?

I've FedEx'd a quarter inside the LARGE prescription pill bottles, put that bottle in a large freezer bag filled half way with coffee grounds. Sucked the air out, shipped it inbetween articles of clothing in a box. Made it from Oregon to Missouri fine, but customs is surely a different story.
