Read on the infamous lotus method modification with wine cooler

I don't know what voltage your unit runs on. You'll have to figure that out first, or just use the supply it came with.

Read on the infamous lotus method modification with wine cooler

You don't seem to know the difference between AC and DC power. There is a power supply board that converts the AC wall voltage to the DC required by the fan and TEC element. A transformer will not work: if you put AC on the TEC it will not work, and you might smoke it or worse. I suggest you...

VPD and drying - An overview

I've got a load drying in a Koolatron 20, the usual setup, and it seems to me to not be able to get the high kPa numbers, at least with a full load of wet weed at 60F. It is slow drying at a low temp, which is what I want, and VPD is creeping up. Initially it was around .45 but now is at .50...

VPD and drying - An overview

For humidity over 50% (always the case for us), an approximation for calculating dew point temp is: Tdp = T - (100-RH)/5 , T in degrees Celcius (Lawrence 2005) example: 60%rh 60F, Tdp = 46F. Since both DP and VPD use the air temp and RH to compute them, either one works as a drying control...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

I've had several great runs in my earthboxes with organic soil made with ProMix base, and the usual amendments. Never had a nute or pH issue. I was running a Piff (PCF Midnight Mass) and an Ace Panama/Bangi haze in 2 EBs side by side, same mix I used previously, just re-amended in both. Started...

Thermoelectric wine cooler drying and curing - DIY

I finished wiring up my "Hookatrol". Thought I'd post a pic before I put the back cover on after letting it run a couple days to test (working perfectly). STC-3028 controller $17 shipped, 12V 5A power supply $11 shipped. Donor dehumi $45 shipped. My time? Priceless - er - well, I wasn't doing...

Powering your grow with a 50 amp dryer outlet.

Extra ground for what? 10-50 has two hots and a ground already - what it doesn't have is a neutral. Make sure short term is short.

Powering your grow with a 50 amp dryer outlet.

I am a sparky and an EE and that gives me the fantods. Have an electrician rewire the dryer outlet to a NEMA 14-50R. I take it you don't have a dryer? When I built my little "room" I added two new 20A breakers to my panel just for that, with two 12 AWG romex (copper) circuits to 2 quad outlets...

Thermoelectric wine cooler drying and curing - DIY

Perfect. I was mistaken - I checked the pic from page one. It's all good. Just wanted to help if I can. If I had wired mine in parallel, it probably would have smoked the wall supply. Last night I put the dehumi in the cooler with some temporary wires to test it out, set cooler to 60F and rH...

a tech observation I made while fooling around on this build : On the dehumi I am using, (Breezome MCS008 amazon link ), the cooling module inside has 2 Peltier cells, each with it's own pair of red/black wires, but they are wired in series at the board - NOT parallel. In other words, two pairs...

Cut an opening with a moto tool for the controller; top left rear seemed like the best place. I want a nice clean install, plus I'm a cheap bastard. Deciding where to mount the humi sensor inside .. I'll use double-side tape until I figure out the best place. Waiting on dehumi delivery ...

Thermoelectric wine cooler drying and curing - DIY

This is the rH controller I'm going to use ($17). It also does temp, but the internal circuit for that works fine and has some cool features, so I'm going to leave the temp control and display as-is, stock. The controller is small and can be mounted in the back side panel space if you cut a...

Not a factor for me as I'm not mounting the driver to the frame, I'm using the extension cord. I do see what you mean, though.

Cooler arrived today. BTW here's a controller I ordered that does temp and humidity both for under $20. Never used one but it was cheap so I ordered it (I'll find a use for it somewhere regardless). Note: This is a 12V DC powered version of the usual AC unit. ebay First I have to power up the...

Thermoelectric wine cooler drying and curing - DIY

A freeze dryer would be an extravagance for my small personal use case. A couple hundy on a wine cooler - eh - that will do. Hell I'm happy with jars, just looking to get a little better terps, a little more control.

Thermoelectric wine cooler drying and curing - DIY

Going to try this. I need a better solution for dry/cure here in this hot humid place. My build will hopefully have better control of env variables. First step is to hack the Kt WC20 and put in a better (more accurate, faster response) temp control system than the stock "bang-bang" servo, then...

The light is pretty sturdy, not flimsy. Make sure to install the screws as directed. I may order the aftermarket hangers for it, or make some. They sent me the 15‘ extension cord, a t-shirt, and some swag free, for having to wait so long.
