    Can you purchase a 15 or 30g smart pot so you don’t need a hole ? id be more concerned about the medium than in ground versus not in ground.

    have you considered using PVC pipe and some 90° adapters ? If you place a table next to the plant and have the water above Where the PVC starts, you could also install a PVC Ball Valve to have gravity start the drain/water

    I’m not an OG but cal mag issue pretty rare unless you’re using RO water what type of water are you using? do you have picture of the entire plant and the other leaves around this particular one ?

    Trimming fan leaves

    I’m getting at that the fan leaves serve a bigger purpose to the entire branch that it is on. To our eyes we see it blocking light so it makes sense to cut. But this does not take into account what else the fan leaf may be doing for the flowers on its specific branch. sorry if I’m not making sense.

    If anything just tuck the leaves away as much as you can any branch that you cut a fan leaf from right now, would surely have less buds than the others, and what it would have currently. as mentioned above air flow is key. The light/photons will reach the bud sites in same ways outdoors.
