    New build problem

I used the graphite pads from cutter for the thermal interface. All 3 are the same dimness. Kinda hard to think I would get all 3 wrong on one light and all 3 correct on the other. I have not checked the voltage output of the driver yet as I am unsure how. I will some more googling after work...

    New build problem

Oh man I missed that part. They were separated when the issue began. Tried it this afternoon to see if it made any difference as I thought I read somewhere this was a way to dim low. Didn't seem to effect the light that is working properly. Have never used a multimeter before sorry.

    Cxb3500 build for 3x3

Any help?? Would like a little knowledge when I talk to straightroad tomorrow. Oh well some pics of the build. BTW @giantsfan24 the drill press kicked ass!! Couldn't imagine doing that many holes with a hand drill. Seriously made my life easy. You can see how much brighter the one light is in...

    New build problem

Some pics of the build. You can see how much more dim the light in the front is. The light barely dims when dim leads are touched together as where the other one is a very noticeable distance.Drivers are mounted outside a 3x3 tent. Will use a reefkeeper lite for controlled 0-10v dimming once the...

    New build problem

So I finished my cxb3590 build last night. It consists of 2 30" 5.8" profile heatsinks. Each sink has 3 cxb3590s run by a hlg 240h c1750b, so 2 total drivers 1 for each set of 3. Much to my disappointment when I plugged them in one was much more dim than the other. I have gone through and check...

    Cxb3500 build for 3x3

OK got the lights together by 2am last night lol, heatsinks did not come till late. One of them is putting out a ton of light, the other seems to be running at only half power!! I checked all connections ten times over. So I went and bought a multimeter. Only issue is I have no idea how to use...

    Mau5Capades: builds & grow journal

Yes best part is I grabbed it used for like $50 years ago. Check the reef forums people are always selling them. The thing with the reefkeeper is you have to buy a separate controller they call the alc for dimming, like $80. As long as my heatsinks come today I will try it out today or tomorrow...

    Mau5Capades: builds & grow journal

Thanks for the response. The question was not directed at only growmau5, I am open to hearing all opinions. Anyone know what this connection is called. Does not appear digital aquatics sells them on their own.

I have a reefkeeper lite from my fish tank keeping days with their advanced light controller. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reefkeeper-lite-basic-digital-aquatics.html It does 0-10v dimming. Only trouble is only have 1 plug for it at the moment. Could I ago 2 mean well drivers to the single...

    Cxb3500 build for 3x3

Yes they guy in front me used one. Got a 20% coupon at checkout but it was for the 26th and I am impatient haha. I spent $100 so could have saved $20, oh well. I am not a connoisseur of drill presses, or really know anything at all about them. But it feels like you could recoup already half the...

    Cxb3500 build for 3x3

Well you seem like an intelligent person, much more intelligent than some of the people on here haha. I never did get into guppies. Started with high tech planted tanks. High output lights with pressurized co2. Still have a really nice dual stage Mathewson regulator, burkert solenoid and ideal...

    Cxb3500 build for 3x3

@giantsfan24 wattage dropped from 453 to 378. So quite a lot! Ppfd with the 2100 would have been 1300. Have not calculated the new Ppfd because I'm pissed lol. Thanks for the tip @grouch . What grit did you end up using to knock them down? I really enjoy your comments, I feel you are one of the...

    Cxb3500 build for 3x3

I did Google it smart guy :fire:lol. That's where came up with the #37 drill bit, it is equivalent to .1040. Of course Lowe's did not have a #37 bit so I went with 3/32 as Iowa's the next one down. Will just have to take my time screwing them in. Everything but Grayson's came today. Will add...

Great tip thank you. Your package was the first of many I received. Funny thing is most are coming from my home state of California and yours still beat them. Will do full reviews later. Couldn't be happier thank you

Package arrived safe and sound this morning Mark thank you. Great packaging and super fast service. Any pro tips or tricks on the graphite pads? I wasn't thinking and ordered the exact number I needed. So no room for error. Should I make a fresh clean cut as the edges are very rough?
