Question for the LED Cob lighting experts---is this a good deal?

Let's see now other's also where questioning the use of a Meanwell driver. Also please note that I helped answer the question regarding the fan/heatsink issue as well as sorted the answer for the driver and corrected myself. So while you my not find anything meaningful in that information maybe...

Question for the LED Cob lighting experts---is this a good deal?

OK so I found the craigslist post for the guy making these in the Boston MA Craigslist. Looking at his posting with the pictures that I can enlarge the driver is in fact a Meanwell HLG-185H-48A. Which leaves us to wonder what is the COB that is being used?

Question for the LED Cob lighting experts---is this a good deal?

There is something under there for sure. Seeing that the L extrusion used for the frame is mounted upside down is is half hiding what ever it is. It just that even with that said it's size and shape is not conducive to a Meanwell LED driver.

Question for the LED Cob lighting experts---is this a good deal?

The answer to how the heatsink is mounted is simple. The heatsink and fan are an integated unit. You can see the heat sink(they are unanodized(silver) aluminum)under the fan and they are mounted together on the frame rails at 4 mounting points. I would like to know how they are mounting the COB...

Question for the LED Cob lighting experts---is this a good deal?

Not sure why I would need to reread my own post as there is nothing to amend in it. Like I stated there is ZERO way a MEANWELL driver(we all know how big even a small hlg-185h-c1400 driver is) and a 12v fan driver/power supply plus the wire junctions are all fitting into the 5"x5" box hence my...

Question for the LED Cob lighting experts---is this a good deal?

Very confusing.....he claims to build these with Vero or Luminus COB's but posts a video to the Cree cxb COB. That would be 3 different companies. Also ask him what driver he is using.

Question for the LED Cob lighting experts---is this a good deal?

Those are clearly Intel CPU heatsinks with integrated cooling. The heatsinks are under the fans. Now unless the driver is remotely mounted there is no way there is a Meanwell driver under the black junction box. Not to mention there would need to be a driver or at least a 12v power supply for...

Yup Mephisto is without question top rank auto flower gear! It looks like they are out of stock on a lot of strains which does not surprise me at all. Mephisto Grape Crinkle......1 pound of autoflower MADNESS!

There just seems to be something special about Mephisto Genetic's Crape Crinkle. I have grown 2 of them in the past and the best was 12.47oz dry. With my new better set up and better lighting my goal is for a 1 pound(dry) Mephisto Grape Crinkle. I do things a little different than some DWC...

    5th gen Citizen 1212 typical voltage 34.6?

Ummmm...I run a hlg-185h-c1400b on 4 cxb3590's wide open and on my Kill A Watt meter have 201w. 36v x 1.4amp=50.4 watts per COB I plan on running this same type driver on 4 3000K 90cri 1212's once the parts all get here.

    K.I.S.S. Retailers hate me..

Yup it's the bennies that allow this. I too run high bucket temps, into the low 80's during the start of my grows till the plants canopy shades the bucket. I run Hydroguard and have never had a problem with root rot and grow large plants.

    Help with first Cob build

Provided this data is correct my next fixture build will be a Citizen 1212 unit. I was thinking a 1818 COB unit but it looks like the 1212's on a Meanwell hlg-185h-1400c driver would be equal to my current 4 COB cxb3590 fixture with the same driver and for a lot less of an investment.

    DHP Presents Citizen Cob 1812 3500k 80CRI Vs 1812 3500k 90 CRI

I have been meaning to expand my current cxb3590 fixture running a hlg-185h-1400b driver. I first built it with 2 3000k 80cri COBs. After seeing this thread I order up a pair of 3000K 90cri's and finished out the fixture last night. Given the numbers the Citizen COBs are getting most likely any...

    Best yielding Auto varieties?

I am a big fan of Mephisto Genetics for autos. Granted I am now growing in DWC but here are a couple of my last Mephisto Grape Crinkle's. Both were 71 days from sprout to chop. One of them went 12.47oz dry.
