Finally some Mars Bars and my lights are going up

Okay little update. Managed to finally get clones into the room and now 9-10 Days under cobs. So far everything is exceeding my expectations even with all the reading and digesting of fellow RIU cobbers. Canopy temps are around 28c and RH is kept between 45-54%. Plants had suffered a bit in...

Finally some Mars Bars and my lights are going up

The heatsinks in the Mars Bars are from the Mars Lights, the Heavies are from Fastron (Oz) think they're H42 from memory and very bloody heavy as well, 10Kg per sink and bloody expensive compared to pin heat sinks which is what I'd recommend to everyone to use, especially if building Mars Bars...

Finally some Mars Bars and my lights are going up

Thanks Growmau I worked very hard to be as neat and tidy as I've seen your work on the lights, it took forever to drill and tap out the hundreds of holes required to build these little darlings. I cut my heatsinks down to smaller lengths so I could get a decent spread on the cobs, so lot's of...

Finally some Mars Bars and my lights are going up

Thanks when I started this project I had a long standing apprehension of soldering as over the years I'd never felt comfortable with my end results, I can now say I'm confident and extremely happy with my soldering ability now.

Finally some Mars Bars and my lights are going up

Thanks for that - Unfortunately posts to US - and from Oz so waiting on Mark for Cutter to get these in- he had some sample reflectors for the BJB's but no holders hoping he will get them in.

Finally some Mars Bars and my lights are going up

Thanks HydroRed I'm kind of happy that they've finally gone up. The Mars Bars will be over a 4x5.5ft table and the Heavies over 4x4.5 table.

Finally some Mars Bars and my lights are going up

Nice pickup Airwalker I should have stated that particular bar is CXB3070 AD 3000K and was my first Mars bar conversion and have only just found from Mark @cutter that BJB holders can be purchased to take angelina reflectors which would have been my choice.

Finally some Mars Bars and my lights are going up

Hi all firstly a big thanks to all that contribute to the RIU forum here without your sharing I'd be still thinking about what to do. Have done a number of runs under Mars lights, which was a very bad purchase but that's the way it goes, and achieved fair results though we did keep adding more...

for anyone tired of M3 drilling and then tapping....

I've found that using a little cutting oil and making sure to apply it for every new tap results in not breaking taps. Oh and take your time making sure to back it off to clear the chips should just about be all one needs to do. PS. Think I've tapped at least 100's of 3mm screws over the...

Lets talk about "Other" COBS !

Watching this with interest, it would most certainly end the HPS COB cost debate. This with some of the heat sink seeking that is taking place could change the game completely, so keep it coming.

IF you are new to LED and want help choosing what to buy, POST HERE!

Lets be honest Mars series 2 lights have a design flaw which results in strings failing in the middle of a grow which is a bit like having a car that every time you have somewhere really important to be it breaks down and it's a known thing. To those that wish to defend Mars Hydro go right...

So it's not watts per sq ft with LED's?

Depends on which Mars lights as they seem to have different outputs from reflector type to series 2 type. My Mars 2 lights seem to have 55-100v drivers @750ma. That's sufficient to run 2 CXB3590 36v or a single CXB3590 72v which I've done both. With the 36v cobs I put 2 per heat sink and...
