Noob needs opinions on diy cob build

@CobKits I'm looking to get some citizen 1212 gen6 from you. I'd like to run them with an hlg240-2100b with a dimmer to run them at 1.05a. Will the 120mm pin heatsinks be sufficient for those even if I want to crank them to max wattage?

Damn, so I could theoretically run 4 drivers off of one cord?

How can I determine how many I can run off of the one power cord?

Excellent. Is it possible to wire up 2 of those drivers with one power cord? Like a daisy chain option or something?

I think I have decided to on getting the Citizen 1212 chip. I want to do 5 per light bar and 2 light bars over each system. Can I run 5 of these 1212s with one hlg-240h-c1400b? And will this heatsink be sufficient to run them at 50w each...

Ahh, okay. Now things are making just a touch more sense.

I see you're quoting the post from Rahz. Ill have to double check the spec sheet for that chip but I don't remember seeing those values listed there. SFD and LER.

Anyone used these before? https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/products/sst105passive-heatsink-kit Or would these be better? https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/products/sst120-passive-heatsink-kit?variant=36032568530

So I'm just rewatching some of growmau5s videos and he's calculating heat watts from watts from the wall and multiplying that by the percent efficiency. And then using this number to determine how large his passive heatsinks need to be. Where do we get the percent efficiency number?

That was a thought when I was going through everything. I like the idea of less wiring and all that. I had some concerns that my lack of knowledge would cause me to get heatsinks that were too small. Also, those seem expensive compared to the pc fan type. Or am I missing something?

Yes, thank you for that Rahz. So, I'm leaning more towards 6 cobs per rail for a total of 12 over each 50"x30" system. I'm thinking the 1212 80cri at 3000k (just to clarify, this color is okay for flowering only? Light won't be used for veg at all) I'm thinking I'll run each rail of 6 with...

I could still use the 1400 driver but use the dimmer function to dim them back to 1050 right?

Where do we find the information about the chips being more efficient at lower amperage? How do we make a calculation for any given chip to tell us what amperage to run it for maximum efficiency?

I totally don't know what these acronyms mean that you guys keep using. SPD, LER, PPF, and such.

Are you talking about these? There are a couple different variations but this is the only one cheaper than the 64. ARCTIC Alpine 11 GT Rev. 2 CPU Cooler - Intel, Supports Multiple Sockets, 80mm PWM Fan at 22dBA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002D2H9W0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_975Azb7QFAPND

Alright, I talked a little with @CobKits about the chips he offers. The l/w on the 1212s at 3000k is 149. The l/w on the 1216s at 3000k is 128. The l/w on the 1818s at 3000k is 141. Im not sure what other specs I should be looking at on the spec sheet but based on this info it seems the 1212s...

Touche. That's what I mean when I say it's foreign to me haha. I don't even know what I'm asking when I say 50%.

Great. So if I ran 5 of them off of this driver at this amperage, that would be about 50% right? http://www.rapidled.com/mean-well-hlg-240h-c1400b/

I would love to see those results. My idea is to run two 48" light rails each with 5 of those citizen cobs to cover an area that's 50"x30". Do you think that would be good coverage?
