Hydroponics Questions - Algae, Beneficial Bact, Enzymes, Sterilization, etc

Not an issue. Not with 24 hr recirculating solution. Moving water is aerobic water.

Hydroponics Questions - Algae, Beneficial Bact, Enzymes, Sterilization, etc

Same with the DefGuard. Much more concentrated. At $20/week I can live with it. Pending that dosage rate (1 pint) is effective. I do like Southern AG products tho. I’ve used them before.

Hydroponics Questions - Algae, Beneficial Bact, Enzymes, Sterilization, etc

Whatever I use, it needs to be safe while plants of all ages are in the syatem. I have no idea if the pond enzymes are safe. And not sure if effective either. So far the concensus is to just go with the benis and/or chlorine. I will add in a moment to a zone of mature/healthy plants.

Yikes. That was close LOL. So 4 grams total for my system?

Hydroponics Questions - Algae, Beneficial Bact, Enzymes, Sterilization, etc

So let me see if I got the math right... 0.1 g / gallon x 400 gallons = 40 g of the calcium hypochlorite? Safe test dosage? Im thinking of testing all 3 methods. I need it to work with both babies & mature plants alike. Simple is better. Method 1 (aka “Cheap Pool Products”): - sterilize with...

So in other words, Im playing it safe with your ratio, right?

    Silica vs Acids vs CalMag

I understand this logic. But the Humic would help with the absorption of the natural iron, cal, mag that is in the well water would it not? Thus why Im not using Flouraliscious Plus (Fulvic). But rather Diamond Nectar (Humic) instead.

Hydroponics Questions - Algae, Beneficial Bact, Enzymes, Sterilization, etc

Ok so I followed your advice. And I picked up what y’all suggested. The pool store also had some cheap enzymes to help clean the dead stuff up as well. I did not get the ammonium stuff. It requires a pH level that isn’t conducive to what we do.

Hydroponics Questions - Algae, Beneficial Bact, Enzymes, Sterilization, etc

The algae is having no problem surviving LOL. No airstones needed here. Solution is plenty oxygenated. Possibly to a fault. Ive heard multiple people say they couldnt get the beni/enzyme combo to work real well in 24 hr water cultures. Too much moving water. Possibly too oxygenated, killing...

Im definitely over thinking this. Which is why I came for help LOL. Cant see the forest from the trees right now.

Hydroponics Questions - Algae, Beneficial Bact, Enzymes, Sterilization, etc

Seems similar to if I were adding bleach, no? Looks like a very cheap solution. This stuff cant hurt the plant?

Hydroponics Questions - Algae, Beneficial Bact, Enzymes, Sterilization, etc

Being that my system is in a constant flow, Im guessing the beni’s & enzymes arent going to be effective like in E&F. Just so I understand this correctly... - Enzymes - need the beni bacteria to work hand in hand? - Beni Bacterias - can still do their job independent of any enzymes?

    Silica vs Acids vs CalMag

No. Must stay synthetic liquid nutes.

    Silica vs Acids vs CalMag

The silica is the one thing that isnt in the base or supplements. Thus why I was hesistant to drop it. I like the silica for plant defense/health. Yeah, gonna drop the calmag. But like I said before, I’ve test all 3 ratios side x side. Cant tell the difference to the naked eye. Makes me...

Hydroponics Questions - Algae, Beneficial Bact, Enzymes, Sterilization, etc

So far, the solution I’ve been able to settle on is... 1. Enzymes & Beni’s to eat up the old dead matter 2. Sterilization product to apply weekly once system is flushed (Physan 20 or Flora Shield) Although Im open to using the DefGuard/Hydroguard long term. Seems they need the enzymes with...

Hydroponics Questions - Algae, Beneficial Bact, Enzymes, Sterilization, etc

Not practical to use net pots. My OP specifically says 24 hr recirculating I have ran many harvests. Never had root rot. The system design is not the problem. Turns out this isnt root rot but buildup of dead organic matter that is choking the roots. The Physan 20 (a fungicide) did its job...

    Silica vs Acids vs CalMag

CalMag because General Hydro techs said the Humic Acids were redundant. And because the CalMag also has Iron. The A&B base nutes are not labeled very well. Missing is iron & manganese from the ingredients list for some reason. Yes, considering the technology in the system Im running, I should...
