    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

Well i can say with certainty that there is over 1600ppm of nitrate in the water. Hold on while i keep diluting down to the point where i am finally in the scale!

Hmmm nitrate may be higher than i thought... Here is the chart. Nitrate is on the right. Then i did 1/2 dilution ....ok at the end of the chart. Dilute some more.. 1/5 fish water ....now i start worrying lol. Time to test the water im using to dilute it as a control..Crap...test works good...

Oh btw, that tomato plant in the picture was started from seed mid January. An heirloom cherry tomato plant. So about 90days from seed to that size.

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

Im not worried about the nitrate levels going up much because i am actually using the fish water to water the plants we have outside and replacing the water in the tank with tap water. It dilutes the nutrients as i keep doing that. And the plants i water with it do very well too.

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

They remain on the surface area of the clay rocks, most growing mediums used will naturally have the bacteria grow when there is ammonia present. Then as the ammonia converts to nitrite the 2nd set of bacteria grow on the same surface which will finish the cycle converting the nitrite to...

I have not measured that in awhile actually. I will get that measurement today cause i am curious what it is as well. I gotta grab a gallon of ro water though as i dont want to dilute the sample with tap water.

That is one of the tomato plants we transferred outside. We wanted to try other plants in the grow bed so we pulled 2 tomato plants and a cucumber plant. That is what it looks like now. Left a good chunk of room for the plants to grow.

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

It does seem like im not giving updates as often as i should be. But bear with me as i have a lot of projects i've been working on like a chicken coop for the 5 chickens, a dog house with an auto feeder and auto watering system for the now spoiled dogs, the same for the chickens this weekend...

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

Ok so i've been reading up on various reasons and i believe that the meter is not accurate because of the changing power factor in the power supply. Apparently the little spikes and differences can throw off its readings and when i put the multimeter in the dc side, it smoothed out the load on...

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

Ok, now i feel like im going crazy. I hooked up the killawatt to the power supply. Then turned up the voltage to 39.1v. reading showed 380w. Left the power supply plugged in and put multimeter in series in the cob circuit to get the current through the wire which showed 6.6amps, then i look over...

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

Its rated at 350watts. I'll run the cobs a bit higher and see how much the power supply goes up. Its using about 2/3 rated power. Technically that should be the efficiency sweet spot. But this isnt the first issue i had with it. First the 10k potentiometer broke on it and it was stuck at max...

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

Double checked multimeter using batteries and smart charger showing amps and voltage. It matches when checking amps and voltage so i know cob power consumption is correct. Also ran microwave at full power 1350w and killawatt showed a couple watts over but that should be expected. Also used 75w...

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

Had wife plug in killawatt and send a pic.Still high. Lights went on at 7am. About 100w of power lost on power supply. Idk which is worse, bad meter or bad power supply cause they both cost about the same. Maybe she can do a test on the killawatt while im at work lol.

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

Yea, 100watts has to be going somewhere. The fan on it is on constantly. But the fan cant be using more than 10-15w. Even then the losses still are higher than they should be. I'll double check everything later today and find out whats going on.

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

I was thrown off at first because i was only measuring the power consumption from the wall for the power supply so far and i was getting 350w of usage across the killawatt meter. Something still isnt adding up. Maybe i need to double check the multimeter and killawatt meter with known values and...

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

Ok so i was finally getting around to testing the cobs output, power consumption, temp readings, etc. Has anyone compared their results to citiled table? I have the gen 5 80cri 1212 4000k cobs and they are not giving the same figures as what is in the table with the case temp, current, voltage...

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

I figured its what you meant lol. We all do it sometimes. I kept making mistakes when i had my first setup using a step up converter. I would blow it when i switched from current testing to voltage testing on my multimeter without moving the lead back to the voltage plug...it happens when you...

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

Yea flushing. Its really the only way i can word it lol. Their system needs to be clear. Its more than bowels, their body reacts to not having food for a couple days by removing any excess fat and it really improves the taste of the fish. Im sure there is more at work than i know but it...

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

The math would be a little harder doing that but 10ml of test water and 90ml of ro water would multiply the results by a factor of 10. I'll dilute the test water starting at half and half and go from there.

    Water cooling using aquaponics tank

Where did you have tilapia from? Also how was it cooked and filleted? If the mud vein isnt cut out and skin removed completely before cooked then it is pretty fishy taste. Without it the fish is very mild. I dont like fishy taste much. Possibly where you got the fish from could make the...
