The broader SPD is the only advantage the phosphor-converted red LEDs have.

Okay, didn't know you talked about a commercial available fixture....well, in my opinion you are comparing apples to grapes (4 Cobs with heatsinks are more expensive than a QB with a heatsink, you can't compare commercial fixtures with DIYs etc.) but yeah, i don't want to get into this argument...

Where were the boards placed in these maps? All in the middle?

Samsung doesn't garantuee S6 chips (or do they??) and they use cheap FR4 PCB material, not aluminium. You have to admit that these are advantages, or in case of aluminium CAN be... depending how hard you wanna drive your LEDs.

    New style Samsung LM561C Board

A 100% effective CRI 80 3000K LED would give you around 330 lm (=LER). Therefore the efficacy is already 220lm/330lm = 0,66 = 66 %. Blue LEDs with an efficacy of 75 % are already available, I suppose top bin deep reds are around that as well. So yes, blue and red will outperform white LEDs with...

    New style Samsung LM561C Board

Just checked them - i fucked up big time - sorry for that. Thanks for the shots and the infos. (Well, it all started with "confirm that these are S6"... which is still something you can't tell by eye, but yeah, if you can confirm that its LM561C, then it's just a question where its S5 or S6...

    New style Samsung LM561C Board

:peace: :clap::clap: lol mate, you're super bright, hm? Jesus, why all this hate? No, that is incorrect. The Bs have the black dot, the LM561B+ and LM561C don't. The B+ has a smaller die as shown in the video. Therefore the only chance to differentiate between C und B+ is by die size...

Pfff, whats wrong with you mate? Why do you delete your posts? I just pointed out that you can not verify a binning with your eyes. Don't you agree with me on that?

    New style Samsung LM561C Board

Sure he can, if he wants to talk shit. I would be 100% okay with "According to a visual inspection, these LEDs seems like LM561C" but not with "these LEDs are LM561C S6". Is there anything wrong with my statement you quoted?

    New style Samsung LM561C Board

Exactly. With bare eyes and without a known LM561C you can't even differentiate between LM561C and LM561B+.... So please stop telling us that these are S6s. You all should start measuring the forward voltage at a given current and temp in order to confirm if they use the promised voltage rank.

Adding deep & far reds to Quantum Board build

Yeah, if you are not able to properly determine the the efficacy of your LED (based on LER and QER -> Search for "The Math behind"), than you have to do crappy assumptions. (We are already beyond the 60 % mark for efficacy for phosphor converted LEDs. You don't spend much time in this forum, do...

Adding deep & far reds to Quantum Board build

... but health care is free, so why don't you go to the doctor and get your head checked? I mean, why do you post such bullshit? Just leave the numbers away if you're not able to calculate or understand physics.

    How to Combat Thermal Runaway

Probably the easiest fix is to mount the driver somewhere else in order to get all strips to the same temperature. Besides that, placing a fan on the problematic spot could also work. Last but not least, you could use current resistors. There are loads of good infos about this topic, google...

Great pics! This samsung video also shows the differences between them pretty good - LM561B+ = same package as LM561C but smaller die:
