Quick and Dirty Citizen 1212 build

Flipped the fans, didn't have any 2" screws... so used the original hardware, luckily had some M3 nuts on hand.... I'm done I think, ha.

Quick and Dirty Citizen 1212 build

Pulling or pushing.. about the same amount of air volume moving by the heatsink. Pin heat sinks better long term (but $2 too cheap to pass up).. no 2-3W eff hit, no noise, no moving parts. I may flip them over tonight if I can find some long 8-32s or M4s.. anyhow, only way I can proceed to...

Youre right.. there's a good couple of mm lip that allows it to spin. seems like there would be a negligible difference in temps? Although pulling hot air up above the fixture probably best. I'm going to run it for a couple hours tonight in the shop just to see if anything goes chernobyl on me.

Quick and Dirty Citizen 1212 build

Should be easily doable... probably would have to toss in a couple of washers between the sink and the fan at all 4 corners in order to provide a bit of clearance for the fan to rotate.

All buttoned up... fan wiring is a joke, decided just to keep the fan wires long for future builds and just wire tie everything up for now.

Quick and Dirty Citizen 1212 build

First build, first grow... currently vegging under ~250 Watts of T8's. Plants have almost outgrown the space so I need to get a new fixture for flowering. This is going to be a work in progress in order to get the light spacing correct, while not make a complete mess/hack of it. Should be ok...

I bet another solid 5 or 6 weeks or so.. 12/12 occurs on Sep 24-26th, think flowering can start before then... someone who knows more than me will chime in

What case temps (Tc) are you folks seeing with your citizen 1212s?

Would be nice if citizen had a seperate pad like the crees but what do you want for less 50% of the cost.

What case temps (Tc) are you folks seeing with your citizen 1212s?

Yeah, the rotation is due to the nature of the where metal is available to tap for the holder... I would have loved to have it line up, would have been super clean. Without the rotation the holes float above fins. It's a small enough percentage of area that I'm not going to fret about it. Was...

What case temps (Tc) are you folks seeing with your citizen 1212s?

I shouldn't say perfect. Hopefully acceptable considering the $2 price. You have to rotate the package in order to line up the holder holes so a bit of the package floats over the fins.. But 100% of the area under the leds is flush on solid aluminum though. There's just enough meat there to tap...

Can do that tonight, ahhah. Yes... $2 at newegg... bought 20, then another 10. Perfect for the 1212s.

What case temps (Tc) are you folks seeing with your citizen 1212s?

Is it perfect? No... Is it a worthwhile experiment (to me) to determine a ballpark figure +/- 3c or 5c? Yes... It's not drainin the oil from a porsche turbo and taking it for a spin.. it's a ~$20 cob...

Nice post...:D Sorry for being a curious person :o 50w/1400. Got a 1050 floating around here somewhere. Will try that next. Used to do board level repair of electronics in another life... oscopes, analyzers, meters, counters, data loggers, etc so I like to tear things apart. Got a handful of...
