Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

What do you like to use as cover crop? I used a combination of alfalfa and clover outside this year, and I was thinking about mint, but I’ve heard it’s invasive(like clover). Well, I already have a bale of hay, maybe I’ll get straw next time!

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

I ordered some (200g for like $8...) but they’re from a good place I get most of my stuff from, and most stuff is price fairly well. I’m in Canada, so a lot of stuff can be hard/expensive to find. Going to see how they break down and if my worms will be able to consume them, likely would need...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

Hey guys, I was wondering about other types of mulch to use on my organic no-till bed. It's 30"x30", I am planning on using hay and some type of cover crop, but I was wondering about soap nuts. They would provide saponins when watered, and would likely last a while, Any advice on my mulch...

    Flies ruining plants?

Does anyone know what these are and how to get rid of them? They are in the box I have set up for my clones. Haven’t made it into my flowering tent, only a few feet away though. Thanks for the help. I was thinking about using neem(more than I already have been). It’s an organic grow, also.

If you could only use three amendments...?

Yes, I don’t really count EWC as an amendment though, it’s my humus/compost component. And like I mentioned, the amendments also go in the worm bin.

    Worm bin capacity

so I have about a pound of red wigglers in a 10 gallon fabric pot (16” diameter, 12” height) I’m wondering what the upper limit of worms in there will be, when they populate the bin to the fullest? Ready to set up a second one, but I’m going to be taking about a half pound out for my new...

If you could only use three amendments...?

Is this even a question?!?!?!? Kelp, Neem, Malted barley powder. That’s all you “need”. Mind you, I add them to my worm bin, as well as some rock dust. My soil is amended with rock dusts, crab meal and some other goodies, but all I use now is the holy trinity(MBP, Neem, Kelp).

    Plant dying?

Yeah I’ve run it before, should be about 2 weeks, but it’s dying. It’s been getting kelp/neem tea. Switching to organic no-till next run.

    Plant dying?

Hey guys, I’m about two weeks from harvest. My one plant looks like it is starting to die... any idea what is happening? I was thinking nutrient burn at first, but I’m not using bottled nutrients.

    Buds looking normal? First grow!

Wow! I forgot to come back to post, and just read through to find this. Actual weight was just under 10oz, I have it written somewhere but I can’t find it right now... what a guess though! Pretty good for my first run, and I’m not switching to an organic no-till setup for my third run.

    Cover Crop for Indoor No-Till

Hey guys, so in nearly ready to set up my organic no till bed for my next cycle, just waiting on the bed itself. I’m wondering what cover crops have the most shallow roots? I obviously don’t want them to compete too much, as I’ll have 4 plants in a 65 gallon. I have alfalfa/clover growing in...

    Worm Bin Questions

Is there some sort of way to estimate how long it will take for say a pound of worms to work through a gallon of material? Or any similar method of estimating how long it will take for them to finish. I currently have a 10 gallon fabric pot about 60% full. Probably under half a pound of worms...

    Worm Bin Questions

Looks good, what size perlite though, and does it screen out of the castings? Also, I’ve been freezing some banana peels. And I planted comfrey, so I have more high potassium sources for my bin. What foods do you typically like to add when you do add it?

    How hot is too hot?

Thank you for this, the chart is outstanding! My temp gun is broken apparently, so I will have to get a new one to check on my leaf-air temperature difference. Never even knew that was a thing lol

What about during flower and late flower? Heard over 80 can hurt terps

    Worm Bin Questions

Yeah, I just had an old bin with less than ideal conditions, so I wanted to separate the cocoons and baby worms, so I can remove them before they can breed again, and add them to my new, proper bin.

    Incubating Red Wiggler Eggs

Thanks, It’s been around 68 in there since I’ve had it, I’ll just keep it there.

    How hot is too hot?

Hey guys, I usually run my grow tent at 75F and I’m having a hard time keeping it under 77 and even 78 sometimes. It’s a 3x3x6 foot tent, have a 4” exhaust fan running at full right now. It’s in my basement, which is around 65-72 degrees, more like a constant 70+ right now. There are two LED...

    Worm Bin Questions

I’m actually using fabric pots, so the aeration should be pretty good, just need to be sure to keep the outsides moist. I went ahead and added rice hulls for extra aeration, and because I don’t use much else in terms of Silica, just some DE. It got pretty hot in there for a couple of days after...

    Incubating Red Wiggler Eggs

Hey guys, I just separated my red wigglers from my unfinished vermocompost, and transfered them to a new bin with much better bedding. I noticed a ton of cocoons in the “vermicompost”, and I’m wondering what the best temperature is to incumbent them? I read 50F for breeding, and 70F plus for...
