I think that's a pretty solid idea. I have something very similar to that, its a weather strip, that I use to seal the bottom of my front and back doors of my house to keep bugs and stuff out. I don't see why this wouldn't work the same

Same goes for me, I have 3 girls in 5 gallon pots in my 2x4' tent. 2 are topped, one isn't. It is pretty much filled up in there. Tried 4 last time, untopped, and was too crammed for my liking.

t5's don't get very hot, IMO you would just need to get a little fresh air in somehow. hot air shouldn't be a big issue

No it doesnt matter about the wattage, it's due to the LED lights themselves, they need enough "space" above the plants to evenly distribute the red/blue/UVB/white lights. So if they're too close the lights will be focused too finely on spots of the plants. plus LEDs are pretty powerful so they...
