    Considering giving hydro another go

Nice work, very good idea. How frequently did you water when your plant was a seedling & then into full veg?

    Considering giving hydro another go

Looks nice & healthy. Do you use a drip ring or standard drippers? I'm a little concerned that only certain parts of the pot will get covered each watering. I.e. directly under the drippers with the rest staying dry.

    Considering giving hydro another go

I ran a small dwc set up a few years ago but due to space constraints, heat & lack of experience I gave up on it. Mainly, repeated cases of root rot. I now have more space to grow in & a bit more of a budget. What ever I go for needs to be fairly quiet. The room that the set up will go in has...

Cheapest UK or EU supplier of pin fin heatsinks for cobs

I’m pretty sure from memory that someone posted on a thread that they had drilled & tapped either a cxb or luminous to an alpine 11 including cob holder. I know they have a little raised chunk in the centre of the sink so that is the concern. If I go that route, I will probably just buy 1 to...

What’s the best bang for buck cob these days?

I try to keep an eye on what’s happening LED wise but I’m not as up to speed on it as you guys. That’s why I started the thread. I had no idea singular strips could be pushed that hard. I thought they maxed out at around 50w per strip. My 12 existing cobs are at the moment spread over 3 large...

Cheapest UK or EU supplier of pin fin heatsinks for cobs

Last time I checked (while ago) kingbrite was the cheapest. I'm going to be adding a few cobs to my existing Cob set up. Not keen on adding strips. I'm pretty sure I looked at prime light a while ago. Everything UK based always seems to be over priced. Looking like alpines or kingbrite then...

What’s the best bang for buck cob these days?

4 extra cobs or 4 strips. I can push more wattage through cobs than I can through strips. It would also be more awkward to work that into a frame which was predominantly made up of cobs. Slight more complication than I need. Not saying it couldn't work, just don't think it is right for me...

What’s the best bang for buck cob these days?

I would bite your hand of on those but im in the UK. Shipping is likely to cost more than the savings from digi. That said I will check on your site before I do anything. I do need to look at some of your active heat sinks as well.

What’s the best bang for buck cob these days?

That price cannot be argued with. Price is a concern but I can stretch a little further than that. I'd rather grab the newer vero's or the cmx.

What’s the best bang for buck cob these days?

I've got strips in my veg tent. I would go that way if I was building a whole new light. I don't think they would be a good match with my existing cobs at the wattage I'm going to push. Thanks though

Cheapest UK or EU supplier of pin fin heatsinks for cobs

I saw them mentioned on another thread. They are available on amazon & multiple computer parts shops online. Google them, you should get plenty of hits

What’s the best bang for buck cob these days?

Growing with LED’s has its pro’s & con’s. I always start supplementing with a little extra calcinit & Epsom Salts as soon as I flip my plants. I haven’t had any calcium & magnesium issues since I started doing that. From that point is just a case of managing the EC. Your Shipwreck was still...

Cheapest UK or EU supplier of pin fin heatsinks for cobs

I was just having a look at the arctic alpine 11 & 12 passive heatsinks. Can be bought for roughly £10 a piece & good for around 50w. Strap a cheap fan on one of those & it would probably handle quite lot.

Thanks inthevalley Yeah, I did have a look on Digi-key. Lots of options. Are the 32’s just a larger cob than the 22's?

Cheapest UK or EU supplier of pin fin heatsinks for cobs

The last time I looked around it worked out to be cheaper to import pin fins from China. Does anyone know if the price has come down on these in the UK or EU?

What’s the best bang for buck cob these days?

I’m expanding my grow space a little & need to add another 4 cobs. I already have 12 x CXB3590’s CD bin which I’ve had for a few years now. Ideally, I want to at least match their efficiency. Thanks in advance.
