Looks like they could use some fertilizer. Not over watered looking to me, Epsom salts @ 1tbsp/gal water will give them a magnesium hit which they need. Any powder blue fertilizer like Jacks or Miracle Grow at HALF the rate (indoor and outdoor rates are different). Theyll bounce back.

I don't see claw...leaves are a little dark not overly so. Look up claw and you'll see leaves that are radically different than what youre dealing with. But no claw. Ima say it's a calcium def or too low ph which locks out calcium uptake. A tbsp of garden lime will fix the problem on NEW growth...

Sorry I simply don't see what the issue is. Plants seem ok to me. Too much N looks like really dark green leaves and "claw" which your buddy doesn't have either. So count your blessings and stop using distilled water. You need those minerals.

Ok the easiest way to diagnose mites is to put a clean white piece of paper underneath a branch and shake it a bit. Some will inevitably fall off onto the paper. Wipe the side of your palm across the paper and if you see small blood streaks you have your answer.

For growing you're about right...for drying I like 55% Rh...for curing I like 55%...Curing needs more moisture in the air than both drying and growing. A few degrees either way is cool.

I didn't see any fungus. I agree with the guy above who said it was probably dissolved salts on the leaf. So Nitrogen is a mobile element...so are P and K...if you remove the bottom leaves you're really doing a disservice to your plant. I wouldn't if they were mine. The plant will relocate...

So you've got that weird variegation that happens...it's not a def and it'll go away as the plant grows...please don't think you did anything wrong and try to fix it...new growers especially are stumped when they see it. I'd be interested to know exactly why it happens but since it doesn't harm...

If it were mine I'd hold off for a week on the chemical fertilizers. I guess in my own mind I'm thinking the little guys don't have established roots yet so why chance stressing them out...However a nice compost tea won't burn anything and the little plants could use a 'pick me up'
