    Maximum current for Cree x p e

what does datasheet say? with proper cooling you should be able to hit max data sheet current

Digikey will be selling the new Samsung Horticulture Linear LED strips.

the real advantage to the newer reds are their hi efficiency. on a straight PPF basis, old reds on cheap blurples are less efficient than almost any white phosphor from last year or two (esp the epistars)

if there is demand. they are considerably more expensive and for 99 out of 100 people (the 100th having more money than brains) i would recommend running a higher number of the cheaper white cobs at lower currents to get higher efficiency "in theory" the spectrum-tailored horti chips *might*...

correct 80 and 90 cri use different phosphor, you can see by the shift of the read peak for either of those CRIs the peak is centered about in the same place, and peak height is a function of color temp, i.e. phosphor thickness

for a given cri series its entirely the amount of lack of blue absorbed by phosphor. thicker phosphor= lower color temp, less blue passing thru

thats a deep discussion of spectrum vs plant life cycle, but in theory blue cobs are just phosphor-less and would shift the same 80 or 90 cri spectrum up the color temp. so if it was evenly mixed a 2700k+blue would prob end up like 5000-6000K

Watt loss because of long cable

in reality with a meanwell it would prob still work, albeit at slightly reduced current
  12. CobKits

Watt loss because of long cable

right- it will give cobs correct current, but long runs still drop voltage and waste power. both things are true. with proper wire sizing and adequate voltage headroom there are no performance issues, but there will be efficiency losses (cobs still operate at correct voltage and current, but...

thats a bummer OP, at least they are standing behind it. sounds like your power could be really dirty, the usual return rate on meanwells is super low some good tips in this thread. killawatts are cheap and a good place to start
