the real advantage to the newer reds are their hi efficiency. on a straight PPF basis, old reds on cheap blurples are less efficient than almost any white phosphor from last year or two (esp the epistars)

correct 80 and 90 cri use different phosphor, you can see by the shift of the read peak for either of those CRIs the peak is centered about in the same place, and peak height is a function of color temp, i.e. phosphor thickness

for a given cri series its entirely the amount of lack of blue absorbed by phosphor. thicker phosphor= lower color temp, less blue passing thru

thats a deep discussion of spectrum vs plant life cycle, but in theory blue cobs are just phosphor-less and would shift the same 80 or 90 cri spectrum up the color temp. so if it was evenly mixed a 2700k+blue would prob end up like 5000-6000K

what would you guys like to see? they would likely be cob based as my margin on the boards is just too thin

pull the cover and check the connections at the driver terminal blocks

i use LiCors (because im in the photometrics biz) but those hydrofarms are a fantastic value for growers

thats a bummer OP, at least they are standing behind it. sounds like your power could be really dirty, the usual return rate on meanwells is super low some good tips in this thread. killawatts are cheap and a good place to start

i generally run cobs at 18" above canopy
