Need more pictures. But it sounds like you need more N. The stretch eats up a lot of n, and I'm willing to bet your problems start during or after its stretching period.
They KNOW they can't stop it, it's not their intent. They've just been trying to figure out how to make it more exclusive and lucrative before they move.
I find if I let my soil become a little dry, the roots release more easily.
My suggestion would be to use a color other than black. Like a sand or brown. To keep heat from roots for outdoor growers. Maybe camouflage patterns also.
It's a lot of work to ACTUALLY breed a true strain. Hundreds of selections need to be made over several generations of offspring just to have the traits you want to have appear do so with any reliability. That said, I'd smoke it.

Leaves create the energy the plant uses to form bud. More leaves will make for more buds. You'll never post any actual evidence to refute this.
How much space are you working with and are you familiar with how much stretch it's gonna have?
If you're not having any problems with mold and mildew, then I would leave all those beautiful leaves. More leaves = more flowers. That's a fact that every botanical scientist will tell you. What kind of light are you using?
