Can you see the trichs close up with anything, like a jeweler’s loupe?

Yeah it has to be that. First time I’ve had to deal with an extended drought, last July we got around 8” of rain and the only watering I did was to add calmag and wet down worm castings when I top-fed.

LOL it is total hardpack in between the holes as I walk on it continually and it hasn’t been tilled for at least three years. But the soil in the holes themselves is fairly loose, as I toss in a good dollop of peat moss every spring when I remove the stumps and work in cow manure.

Meanwhile I’m busy with my own issues. Watered twice yesterday, went out at night and they were all standing up proudly. Got literally a five minute shower at like 1:00 a.m. Went out this morning and all the Waziri and the adjacent Balkhi are doing this - Stuck the moisture meter in, and it...

Easy fellas, I think PVOG was expressing dismay, not surprise. If you grow regular seeds it is a total crapshoot. Last year 8 of 10 Tirah were female but only got 1 girl out of 5 Hawaiian Hashbud x Balkhi. This year I’m 2 for 4 on Sholgar, 3 for 5 on Rustam Kush with the other 2 still...

It’s not rocket science (or I wouldn’t be doing it lol). You just need to take branches off the males, stick them in water overhanging a mirror, wait until the flowers open up, and scrape up the pollen using certain razor blade skills you may have developed at some point in your life. Put it in...

I am collecting pollen off of him for a selective seed run on the girls. I was going to take the top half as that was where the bananas were maturing fastest, leaving the lower branches as a reserve until they fleshed out more. I think the problem was actually that I hadn’t consumed anything...

Yup, I’ll still get at least a few ounces off of her. Think I’ll take some cuttings off the chopped top, put them in water and see if they’ll root, just for the hell of it.

When you’re distracted and not paying attention, you do dumb shit. As in topping your nice Sholgar female because you thought it was the male…‍♂️ Still have half of her, so there’s that…

Back when the now 13 year old Minister of State Security (seen here on her birthday two weeks ago) was a year old lass, I was over having a beer with the neighbors when they asked me if I’d seen the woodchuck? I said no I hadn’t. Well, I met the woodchuck a few days later. She was eating it.

Watered at 7:00 this morning and had to do it again by 1:00. Heat and SW wind dried them out quickly. PM still only at minor nuisance stage, if it becomes more systemic I’ll take more drastic action. Am seeing a few caterpillars but the B.t. is zapping most of them.

Hazards abound. I get PM during droughts because that stuff loves dry nights in the 70s. Wasn’t a problem last year because it rained from July until November. Probably spreads from my Concord grapes. Your Creme still looks pretty good. Might be a little zippy out of the gate, I bet 6 months...

Last July had record rain. You know you’re in a drought this year when your hashplants need to get watered every day - This one is shaded in the morning but will be drooping by mid-afternoon - Might have to try this one next year if this is how it’s going to be going forward!

Yeah they should bounce back now that the roots can breath. I did th throw a little cow manure and peat moss into the soil to lighten it up and give them some nutrition once they finally stop acting buttsore and feel like growing again.

I somehow got away with it the first year I grew, but that was with potting soil that was very loose. Didn’t even contemplate the difference between that stuff and actual dirt, brain was too busy getting a mental stiffie over bigger pots = bigger plants. I’m already pre-planning next year’s...

Couldn’t properly regulate the garden soil moisture in the Balkhi Repro 4 gallon plastic pots - I used garden soil and it is way too dense for proper drainage in pots that size. Then the soil got too warm once summer kicked in and I started seeing lower leaf die-off. Three looked like shit...

It’s that time…last year the caterpillars did not show interest in the massive Tirah plants, but I’ve already pulled apart two nests with eggs under leaves as well as seen cabbage loopers and a few hairy ones. Not gonna fuck around, B.t. will be sprayed twice weekly and after each rain from here...
