Is it fine to defoliate during flowering?

I now "removing leaves to expose the bud sites" is a big part of cannabis grower lore. What I can't figure out is how it benefits the plant. I have a handful of reasons why I think it reduces crop yield but I'll refrain from raising those issues and pose a question instead. If removing some of...

are the mars hydro adlights worth it UV, IR, RED

Deep red is part of the PAR spectrum so a "standard" LED grow light should generate a fair amount of light in that range. 660nm is where I'm used to seeing a spike in the spectrum. This is the spectrum of the Growcraft (RIP) flower light. Lots of red, not much blue. IR (>700nm?) is 730nm to...

are the mars hydro adlights worth it UV, IR, RED

I haven't found any research that indicates that UV, for example, has a measurable impact on cannabis but I'd love to read it if available. The only reasearchers I've found on this are Bruce Bugbee, who touched on UV perhaps two years ago, and, earlier this year, Mitch Westmoreland, a PhD...

    Light stress or normal

Interesting - I've given my plants too much light a fair number of times because I give my plants "lotsa light" and I've only seen interveinal chlorisis once and that was not associated with excess light.

    Is the 30$ led anygood?

Chilled - they're in business until they're not. Their home page was open in a tab on my browser. I clicked on it and got a 404.

New strain: Can you tell on day 15 of flowering if the strain is a good yielder?

Crop yield is proportional to light the plant receives. Light is the only way that cannabis can generate food which is directly tied to growth. More light ≈ more weed. I created this table based on the paper that's cited. As PPFD increased, dry weight yield increased by the percentage shown...

    Light stress or normal

I don't see anything that indicates that those plants are getting too much light. As you say, no canoeing/tacoing. The light green color could indicates that they need more nutrients and the morphology of the plants indictates that they could benefit from more light. Looking at the plants, I...

    Gorilla Cookies Autoflower from FastBuds

Nice looking plants! Re. Uni-T vs the Apogee. Even if the Apogee isn't a signficant expense, the only reason I'd go for it is that it makes it really easy to sample a canopy. In addition to the Apogee, I bought the Uni-T for testing/learning, and then bought the Uni-T BT model to see how they'd...

Thanks for the info. I must have confused them with another company.

    Need help please

"I think I literally went from root rot to root killing because of too much root rot killing chemicals lolz" Wow. Much respect for your candor. "I will bring the light levels back up." Good. Watch you plants and keep adding light. That's how the little buggers make food and the more light you...

    Need help please

Turning down the light reduces the ability for a plant to make food. Unless the plant is showing symptoms of having too much light, you're making it harder for the plant to survive. "My kid was feeling sick so I took away lunch."

    Is the 30$ led anygood?

Was't Timber still selling blurple or white LED's in big box enclosures with fans? If that's the case, they were just wringing out the last few cents from their trade name. I'm pretty sure Chilled is gone. They introduced a new line of lights, the 2024 models, and as soon as they brought them...

    Is the 30$ led anygood?

This is the PPFD map: I can't figure out what the foot print size is but it really doesn't matter because the light fall off is so rapid, it's not something I would try to use. At 12", the PPFD is so low that it can barely be used for flowering (600µmols is the absolute minimum) and that's...

    Gorilla Cookies Autoflower from FastBuds

My comment about reused verbiage would be applicable to videos - new format, same message. Cannabis plants are fundamentally the same that's why they're all cannabis cannabis. If there were marked differences, they wouldn't be cannabis cannabis. Sure the flowers have different colors and a...

    Gorilla Cookies Autoflower from FastBuds

A couple of comments: If you spend some time reading through descriptions on seed vendors sites, you should pick up pretty quickly that the verbiage is reused. I won't say that it's all bullshit but the same hackneyed phrases are repeated over and over again. Re chopping off leaves - it...

Agree. Once things are working, no need to change them. I'm a big believer in the RIU acronym of "LTFA". :-)

    Mg deficiency ???

1120/500 is a little on the high side. I generally max out at 800/500. EC vs PPM - EC is the value that the EC meter measures. It can be converted to "PPM" but there are three PPM scales those being where 500PPM=EC 1, 600, and then 740. EC is the standard but I measure in PPM (500 scale)...

    Wtf is goin wrong

18° is too cold for a res. At that temperature, you're getting a small amount more dissolved oxygen but P uptake is inhibited. Raise your chiller temp to 20°. Check out this graphic. What are the readings? Also, pictures help a lot.
