    magnesium, Iron or zinc deficiency

If you re-read what I wrote, I said they are not contained in appreciable amounts in those ingredients which means there is not nearly enough to provide for the plants needs. You don't have to believe me. That's why I suggested you find out for yourself. Pardon the way I worded it originally. I...

    magnesium, Iron or zinc deficiency

Zinc, manganese, copper, and boron are never present in appreciable amounts in any of those ingredients you listed, so there is no way to "mobilize" them with humic acid or microbes. The elements have to be present in the soil first. That plant is most definitely deficient in micronutrients(zn...

Plants smell like cut grass when lights go off?

I don't know, but this info may help.... https://www.rollitup.org/t/what-is-the-reason-for-the-planty-smell-after-lights-out.608727/post-9855848 "Even though I have not noticed said smell it is most likely due to the plants switching to respiration only and ceasing transpiration activities...

    magnesium, Iron or zinc deficiency

No. If my memory is correct, recharge is kelp, humic acid, and microbes. You need a micronutrient product. Kelp is only good for potassium, growth hormones, and trace minerals. If you end up buying some Big 6 or tm-7(same as big 6 plus iron) use it as a soil drench 2x a week in a solution of...

    magnesium, Iron or zinc deficiency

Zinc for sure. The thin, pale green new growth along with the leaf petioles starting to turn magenta indicating a p deficiency is a dead giveaway(zinc is a limiting factor in p uptake if there isn't enough). Probably manganese, copper, and boron as well unless you are already feeding those to...

    Citric Acid

Sorry for another deviation from citric acid, but I believe this info to be important as well... If you test your soil before planting in it, you avoid any issues that you would have to figure out otherwise. I do agree that it's possible to diagnose issues without a test, but almost impossible...

    Citric Acid

Also, as I stated earlier, high ppm and high pH tap/well water tend to be high in bicarbonates. Calcium carbonate isn't a readily available source of calcium to begin with, and bicarbonates will make most calcium carbonate inaccessible to the plant. Calcium carbonate is best used as a soil...

This Soft Pots good for Growing?

Thanks for all the input. My bed is 4' x 10' x 10", and my medium is basically coco, peat, ewc, and perlite with amendments. It's outside, drys out quick alteady, and I don't like to grow in straight coco anyway. Sounds like blumats are awesome for the right application though.

    How do you steam it?

Don't do it. Besides being extremely labor intensive, we want the soil to be alive. Grow hydro if you prefer a more sterile growing medium. Exercise in futility=my thoughts exactly. With mushroom substrate, it is pasteurized not sterilized. Canna coco is superior for mushroom growing as it...

This Soft Pots good for Growing?

I have a few ?'s if you don't mind...how big are your beds? How far apart are your plants? What's the diameter of the area that a single blumat keeps hydrated? I was planning to use microsprinklers because they water similar to drippers, but they allow topdressing since they're a few inches...

Suggestions for correcting soil that has too much calcium?

Gypsum can easily leach K from the soil as well. Ewc and compost are usually good sources of K. I agree with everyone that recommended a soil test to fine tune your ratios of nutrients.

    Citric Acid

Organic amended soil that isn't no-till still has nutrients available for multiple crops. Of course, re-amending between cycles based on a soil analysis will yield the best results.

    Citric Acid

If you're saying that the nutrients aren't broken down when you plant in no till, then I agree with you. Explain this to me though, if you're growing an annual plant with a short life cycle, why are you using a long-term fertilizing program? We want the nutrients available now, not next year or...
  16. Brawndo G

    Citric Acid

Yes. The plant can eat by itself. Crazy I know. I never said microbes aren't beneficial. Ideally, most of the nutrients are already broken down and "available" before planting anyway.

    Citric Acid

My point was that having lots of ca in tap water doesn't equate to calcium availability or uptake by the plant. I wasn't criticizing your growing skills. Do what you want.
  18. Brawndo G

    Citric Acid

What is the pH of your soil approximately? That may not be an issue. 7.2 tap could be ok for organic growing if you weren't growing in sips. The reason I say that is because root tips exude lots of acids to uptake nutrients...especially for calcium since it can only be taken in through the root...
