    Climate in the 21st Century

Here in NoCo, it's been chilly, breezy and occasional sleet but drying off between bouts for the last few days. Hope the weekend is nicer!

I haven't caught his channel but I hear he's good. I bet some were bad. I wonder how they're recovering? Speaking of, how 'bout that fresh new hurricane spinning up down by Puerto Rico and headed your way? I'd be getting pretty tired of them by now if I lived there... Stay safe, brother.

Tell me what you know about Kokopelli LOL He is a local god of the ancient ones who lived here long before the white people came. And apparently he has a big dick! LOL

Did y'all see the tornadoes in Oklahoma over the weekend? EF-3, shredded whole neighborhoods, I think there were a few fatalities? I wouldn't live in Oklahoma on a bet!

    Climate in the 21st Century

Several days ago, someone told me the death toll had passed 200. I'm sure it's much higher now. There is no car I'd run into a basement to save during a flood.

Is everyone having trouble getting rid of their weed

Bruh. Not every place is Florida. 30 years ago I sold everything I could grow for $100 a 1/4 OUNCE, that's $6400/lb. Check my math.

Is everyone having trouble getting rid of their weed

Only if you have the gift of social graces. If you don't know people, the best chronic in the world will just sit and slowly go bad.

    Climate in the 21st Century

You wouldn't even have to sink the house too far down in order to get the benefits; you could do a "garden level" or 4-5' below grade and then use the displaced earth to build up a berm and get your home more or less below grade that way. If I ever buy a piece of property and build on it, I'll...

    Climate in the 21st Century

The weather updates I got indicate that it has already reached "super typhoon" strength. Fortunately, it is also predicted to weaken somewhat before making landfall in Taiwan.

Automatic ballast adjuster based on temperature?

What you don't know is that high intensity discharge lamps need a specific wattage to operate at their best efficiency. Lowering the wattage below the rating of the bulb does two things; first, it negatively impacts spectrum while the efficiency, or PPfD/Watt, falls rapidly. Second, as if that...

Automatic ballast adjuster based on temperature?

There are systems available that do such things for LED lights. I absolutely do not recommend this for HID lighting, because the technology requires constant wattage for best longevity. In fact, I can't think of a worse scenario for MH lighting or CMH; it might not strike at all.

    Climate in the 21st Century

They're starting to build whole neighborhoods out of concrete rather than wood. The economies of scale of doing dozens of hundreds really brings the price down.

    Climate in the 21st Century

Funny you should mention this. It is possible to build homes, condos, apartments and even whole neighborhoods to be damn near hurricane proof. It's pretty expensive but if it was code (like it damn well should be in Florida!) it would come down in price through economies of scale and practice...

    Cmh bulb life?

NEVER dim CDM lights! It drastically shortens bulb life! Remember that anything HID lighting can do, LED can do better.

    Climate in the 21st Century

I agree. The category is more about quantifying extreme storms than it is about any differences in damage. That said, there have occasionally been hurricanes with sustained wind speeds in excess of 200mph. I think it deserves a new category. Another reason to do it is to make it more clear...
