If X and Y are both true breeding (doubtful) you would see approximately 25% of the offspring resemble each parent and 50% would show characteristics of each parent combined . ie something different from each parent . If X and Y are both polyhybrids the results could be all over the place .

Lots of people have no idea there are "big" Poodles . Standards are impressive dogs , some still breed them for waterfowl hunting .
