Ok roots into the bottom have an o2 stone but will they drink too much? Can I leave bottom empty at times and let roots dry and reach or do they need to be covered at all times?

also exposed roots are going through about a 1/4 gallon a day with bloom with oxygen stone, the light is from camera, they are not exposed to light
