Just bought my first light for that matter and it happens to be a 1000 watt hps...bought it off ebay and of course, it came with no owner's manual or information whatsoever...so I don't know how many amps or can count them...all I did was plug in the ballast and WhahLah...bulb comes on!...ha Now...

Once I read your note...I went to my book and see the extra lights were added because the temp in the room was dipping below 70F...rather than utilize a heater. If the lights did add too much heat and killed seedlings...then what kind of heater would you of brought in? One with a fan? Electric...

Those prices are real in Tx and Az 4real!!! Gota know someone from the area and willing to transport...the last time I looked, planes and trains are not the safest routes to utilize..so that mean driving, price of gas, risks, etc...but can be worth the trip for those who take the time and...

from reading the book that those 6 cfl's are sufficient for the 3 plants. I'm thinking 6 cfl's to every 3 plants...on the small scale of things...but what do I know...all I do is follow directions to the T and hope like hell mine turns out as good as his....
