I make compost, and i know if it smells like ammonia then it is too rich in nitrogen, i have to add more "brown" material. That is organic 16-0-0 concentrate right. Organic nitrogen smells like ammonia. is it just the concentrate that smells? how bout when you made your solution, still smell?

How old are they? how many nodes? sounds like they are ready to be put outside to me, plants love being outdoors. burying the stem is a good idea , i usually bury mine to their first set of true leaves. Over time the stem should grow roots out of that stem to help secure it. It will not smother...

I think this is to produce male flowers with female genes. Also read that the seed banks make fem seeds using this method. Ya i read somewhere that long term use can cause you turn blue,lol.
