My res temp before lights out was 72F. That is a little high. I was thinking of putting some ice into like a womans nylon stocking thing and hanging it in the res. I could place it in the corner well clear of any roots. Is nylon ok to put in the res? Do you think this idea will work?

I think it was algae. My res temps at change were 62F and 24 hours later they would be 78-80F. Also an unpleasant odor was present along with some foam around the edge. Last check res temp was 68F and smelling fresh. I think the problem has been taken care of now, I also wrapped the res in duct...
