Jela10, I currently have a dimmable lumatek 250/400 and I put a bid on a nextgen 400/600 dimmable ballast. Nextgen is a reputable brand just like Lumatek. Heat won't be an issue because I live in a colder climate. There is snow on the ground if that's any consolation :)

What about algae growth from still water with nutrients? Since I don't currently have a means to drain my tub, the standing water gets a bit like pond water after day. However, the plate will drain after about a day in a half (depends on heat/dryness in the room). Will be interesting to see...

My perlite is so fine if I rinsed it Id lose half of it, so it goes in dry and thats it. It got a rinse, but in the cloth, then a final flush with nutes. Not sure I'm following what's being done here. Does the hole go in the smartpot? What kind of material is that? Look's intriguing for sure!
