Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

Lol, what's 4kgs extra around the world? Gonna go check out the difference now. Maybe one day aluminum will replace gold again, and then the joke will be on you. Hmm, and now I'm wondering if my messed up brain will accept a different hs later...

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

@Ryante55 I found the citizen cob @$21, while digikey has 5600K Lumen Vero 18s @$16.30. Not to bitch, if you got a cheaper source I'd love to know. Citizen just feels so Alibaba, if you get me :-)

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

@verticalgrow Thank you, was beginning to feel a bit lonely lol. The video reminded me of one of the reasons I'm interested in cob led technology. I want to go totally modular in the end, boxes instead of rooms. Boxes on limited axis wheels to maximize space efficiency and minimize any impact...

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

Enter the cxb2540... mouser has X2 bin 6500K at something like 4/9th of the cxb3590 CD 6500K there. But Cutter has DB 3590 6500K for like €3 more than mouser's 2540... haven't made any progress in understanding the non-Crees yet.

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

I can't believe I didn't find this earlier http://www.led-heatsink.com Seems to be located in Taiwan. Anyone has any experience with them? MechaTronix. Shipping times and such. This could be a lot easier than I feared. Edit: the ModuLED 9980 heatsinks was actually almost €3 more at the...

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

Ok, so as my two orders for the flower light build is on a trip I'm honestly a little bit jealous about, I have been doing some more reading. The cxb2530 seems like an elusive fish to find in stock. Did find a heatsink http://www.cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut2988 That can run some 48w...

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Ok, so I realized sometime during the night that I've made a little mistake. After scanning the Cutter shopping page, I was going to be a smart arse and buy the parts instead of the kits to save myself some money. And I did, several hundred dollars on a k + shipping. At least that is my story...

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

Hi guys, I'm AtterStiga, and this is a combination of planning and getting through the wait for my cxb3590 kits to arrive. With what will replace one of my 600w hps in the flower room on the way, and nothing to do atm with that project, I'll just turn to the next. I have never had the space for...

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Thank you so much once again, @Growmau5. I guess I'll just have to hold the pickup of the alu until I can measure, unless @welight can chime in with the measurements. I'm sure there are more people who would be interested in this. Would be grand to have everything in order when the goodies...

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

@Growmau5 One last question for now. I just watched the cutter config flick, where you make the five cob rig. I noticed you just used alu angle bars on the sides of the heatsinks. Do you think that would be strong enough for a four cob bar? Given thick enough alu, obviously. And hanging...

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Does Cutter have some kind of time expansion device they turn on after ordering? Never were the seconds so long...

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Brother mau5, that is exactly what I was looking for. Went with the 3500k cd, so that is really reassuring. Thanks a lot. But, oh so long this waiting game. Will be interesting to see how fast my order can get here once shipped. Now I'm going for a visit so I can borrow internet and rewatch your...

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Yes, but what is the proper spacing for cxb3590s @1400mA? Or rather, optimal spacing? If I increase intensity, how does that compare to increasing area? One cob per f2 would probably grow great nugs, but would one cob per 1.5 or 2 f2 make for more, all variables remaining the same? Not expecting...

    Welcome New Members!

Hi guys. I'm trying to find out how to give likes around here. Is it cause I'm new?

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

I'm almost starstruck here, lol. The cob will go into a 10x10ish room, its the first step in what hopefully will be a full upgrade from the nerve wrecking. I went with the 12 cobs (course I did), so I'll build 3 bars @4 cobs. And I'm thinking that doesn't sound like something that would light a...

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

This is exactly what the dimming thread said in a way that my thc marinated brain couldn't discern with certainty. Think I'll use one for each bar, what with modularity being so sexy and all. Some day I'm going to find out how to give you wonderful people the likes you so deserve.

Ah, so I can buy the knob, that sounds nice. The pots do look like they're made for one, never crossed my mind to look. Ty. I can wait for the knob, guess I'll just get the pots with my drivers as soon as I fatten up the bank again. I double and triple checked, it still cost more than expected...

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Ok, one last update, and I´ll stop cluttering the thread. Just ordered 12x cxb3590 CD 3500K, fittings/Angelina, and the in heatsinks. Since you were out of 200w drivers I went for the hlg185h-c1400b. If (when, lol) I upgrade the rest of my hps I´ll try Cutter´s. Even the little stuff like M3...

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

And now that I've talked myself into 12 cobs in 200w I noticed that the 200w @1400 mA was on back order. Guess I'll have to go look for it elsewhere. Have hardly slept last night because of excitement/nerves/autism. Edit: when I read the specs on the 250w @1400mA I found the load vs efficiency...
