Yeah I'm using a hps as I did the last time I grew, I only use it as it's very cold in my grow room so it helps with the temps, and I used 3 x 600 w and added a 4th in the last 2 weeks.. I also topped my plants which seemed to create alot of main colas, I'll show you some pics.

Yes I'm the same, if you're humidity to low through veg they won't grow to good, a cheap hygrometer meter will tell you the humidity, i honestly think it's massively important to maintain between 60 and 70% humidity then around 40 to 50% through flower, that's what I did, I bought both...
