Actually, it was the AIR making the noise. I attached duct work out the ceiling and it was still loud as hell, so I took a foot long piece of vent and stuck it on the intake end of the fan and it muffled it nicely.. sound is no longer a problem

Ok great.. yea I know the finger technique already, I was just confused because the soil seems to be nice and wet towards the center where the seeds are, but its bone dry around the edges, even though I watered em plenty. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Oh ok.. I figured it would keep the air fresh. I'll just shut it off. I have an exhaust fan running in the room to keep the air circulating.. I just went back and checked, the soil in the cups isnt really very wet. How much water should I put in them?

Just planted my germinated seeds in these cups and stuck em under the 125w CFL. I wet the soil, its not SOAKED but its wet. Its FFOF. Is there anything noticeably wrong with the picture? There is a fan blowing around them to keep the air circulating.. the temperature is around 20C. sadly I got...

Lol yes its my parents in the next room, the fan is LOUD and it will disturb their sleep. They are ok with the grow, but the fan has to be remedied. Its much too loud in their room, I can understand where they are coming from. They are easy going and dont care about the grow, but they DO care...

The sound is similar to a turbine engine. I dont think its the wind.. its the fan itself, but its not like it needs lubricant, its just a loud sound like an air conditioning unit. I'm gonna try the foam on the wall thing, hopefully it works.

I've got the same question... can I just put my germinated seeds in cup of soil and put them in a dark cupboard and wait for them to break soil?? or must they go under light for them to even break soil? some people answered me on this in my other thread but I'm still confused

I've tried everything.. its just too loud. I even held it in my hand up in the air while someone else listened in the other room and it is much too loud. I'm gonna have to figure out a way to dampen the sound

Got the oscillating fan covered.. My only problem is the mylar is so thin that its gonna blow around if I try to use it as an enclosure. It will not stay in place. There has gotta be something heavier that I can hang :confused: I'm not too worried about intake as the room is certainly not...
