i was more of asking if since its tightly wrapped will i need to loosen it or remove so it can grow bigger and better

so i went to work today and when i got home my plant was split down the main stem about an inch from where it was topped from. i immediately wrapped the stem in duct tape to bring both sides back together... is there anything i can do to save it and/or make it a better fix?
