hey guys I need your opinion, one of the plants has been showing hermie characteristics. it had one pistil then it grew staminate flowers, now it has more pistils and has clusters that resemble male flowers. here is some pics let me know what you think. If you look thoroughly you can idenitify...
I pulled the plant out and the roots came with it like nothing, some roots may have broke off but it came out with no force. even if a few roots came loose Ill find and pull them before they get bad, you think i can have an effect on the plants roots.
What do you mean by stripes, because I am dealing with a hermie situation and I am yet to find whether it is a hermie or a female. can this help decide?
Also you could always cut one off from where it comes out of and slice it open with a razor blade and see if it has a seed in it and it if is a very tiny seedlike thing take caution because you may have a hermie.
In my opinion it looks like really swollen calyxes, I had the same issue with the first plant I ever grew. I can't tell exactly but it seems as if they have pistils growing from them. is there any of these large calyxes with no pistils or hairs protruding from them?
Now what about the the staminate flowers on the main stem? They have no pollen sacks, I had these on my first plant and it turned out 100% female, could these clusters all be calyxes forming at a high rate? Because I am noticing that a few of these actually are split open and have pistils...
I have a female next to this plant, how long do you think I have until It starts dropping pollen. I see no sacks yet, just balls and clusters, but nothing bursting open.
Certain Calyxes have two hairs, the initial calyx only had one hair, it is about a 50/50 ratio. I am just seeing clusters like you would see on a full blown male, but nothing that looks like hanging sacks, that could be do to it not being fully developed.
I have this plant that orginally only had one female pistil then it grew staminate flowers afterwards. it now has several pistils and several clusters of flowers growing. I am very confused because some of these have hairs growing out and some don't. I am hoping these are just swollen calyxes...
My water temp is about 78 degrees, the enclosure shows 79-80 degrees while lights are on, and 85-86 degrees near the light fixture. I just lined the enclosure with plastic so I will need to take temps tonight when the lights are off.
I am using seeds because I had no clones, I also have no issues with root rot or slime. The humidity is lower now that I have more FAE. I really appreciate all the info.
I usually allow the water resevoir to drain partially to help air the roots out. Would keeping my A/C set on 70 degrees instead of 78 help lower temps?
I have no real issues that i can see to my eye. Thanks for all the advice.
