I was wondering this too.. of course your best bet is to keep a timer going 18/6. If you did this once, you'd be fine... but I think messing around with the light schedule more than on an occasion; every weekend is a little much.

From what I know, most suck! A few of them have quad or 5-band spectrums which are supposedly a LOT better than the original like blue, red, and white UFO's. Because two wave lengths of blue and two wave lengths of red is much more effective than one of each.

It all depends... but 8 x 26w cfls still uses more watts than the 4 x 42s, so go with that. 8 26w bulbs is also very cheap... at Walmart they are 97c each (2700k Lights of America). Just make sure since cfl's aren't as direct (due to its shape and no reflector) you try to focus that light...

Right. So I am concluding that vegging 10 plants all in 1 gal pots until a foot high, then start the flowering timer until I can sex them. Ditch the males, and then transplant each female into a 5 gallon pot, all under a 400w MH / HPS (for flowering) light.
