As far as the Epsom salts. I add 1/2 tsp per gal every watering. I can't even remember why I've just always done that. Someone out there shuld be able to refresh my memory.
It could be any of the above or it could have been a plant that was a bit sick and was not drinking as much as the rest but you said that you watered them all the same so over time you over watered that plant. lift the containers and see if the sick one is twice the weight. Looks like some of my...
I almost never do a res change. What I do is alternate every other watering nutes one time and just plain water the next and sometimes I let the level get real low and fill with plain water kind of like a flush
My PH stopped going up and down when I dropped my PH meter. LOL I have been flying blind. I know about how much down to use with my well water so I have been adding the same as I used too. What ever my ph truly is it's got to be close caus my plants look fantastic.
I top for 2 reasons. 1. I don't have a lot of height in my room so I have to keep them short. 2. It allows more tops to be closer to the light instead of an 8' plant that is only getting good light at the very top. a shorter bushy plant will get more even light .
I too have used rain water in the past. However the ph of rain water is not neutral. If you check it you will find that it varies greatly from acid to base. I have tested just rain water nothing added at any where from4.9 to 9.0 depends on whats in the air when it rained.
Well We'll just have to see what happens. The reason I'm going to Hempy is that the summer heat has proved to be to hard to deal with without spending tons of cash to cool DWC buckets I hope that is not a problem with the Hempy buckets.
Again thanks for your help. to late for this batch but I'll try that on future grows. I have another question for ya. I have heard of some people putting an air stone in the bottom of their buckets. Do you think that this is an advantage or a waste of time?
Thank you for your help. I guess what I was getting at was that 2" from the bottom of a 3lb coffee can is almost half the height of the can and that's where I put them in the coffee cans. On a 5gal bucket 7" is about half the height too. That's where I'm getting confused
I also am growing in 3lb coffee cans. Can you tell me how high you put your holes? I keep hearing 2" I don't understand what the importance of that is. I have some started in 5gal buckets too and put the holes at 7" so I could put a catch can under a spout I put in the side of the bucket.
I have no idea what the best way is but if you read trough some of the posts here you will get all kinds of ideas. I'll tell you what I'm going to do this summer I'm going to Hempy buckets. You could call the perlite the insulation I guess. Still DWC to me just added some perlite to the water LOL
There seems to be a sudden interest in "Hempy" grows. I too am going to put 1/2 my next grow in Hempy buckets. I have a big problem with temps in the summer like most people do. I hope that the hempy buckets are not as prone to root rot and not affected by the high temps as much
