Cool, thanks Supra. I'll just stick with the 3k's then. And I'll wait till you test some AC DC converters out to see which one I'll go with. I can run several fans off of 1 converter though right? or do I need a separate one for each fan? You know much much more about this stuff than I do so I'm...
Ok, after a lot of reading I'm thinking about doing like you suggested here only with individual heatsinks so I can spread them out for more uniform coverage. I'm thinking 11 in a 4/3/4 pattern (about 1 per square ft.) should work good for a 4x3 tray. Before I start ordering stuff though I have...
Awesome info Supra, I love the way you explain things. A lot of this stuff is still a little over my head but you explain things in a way that I can understand what your saying even if I don't know how to apply it yet.
I did read Mr Flux's Cree Analysis thread but a lot of that was still over...
Does anybody know how many umoles these COBs put out and how well they spread the light? Trying to figure out how far apart I'd need to space them to get the best mix of intensity and efficiency, and therefore How many to put over each tray.
Great info Supra!! I'd be more inclined to go with the more efficient option, but wouldn't I be better off putting each COB on it's own (smaller) heatsink and spreading them out more instead of putting 4 on each one? I don't mind spending a little extra on heatsinks as long as it will be...
I'm already thinking along those lines but I want to do a little research first before I commit to going that way. I'm starting out knowing very little and I want to do some learning before I start ordering parts. I'm sure I'll be hitting you up for help though, so thanks in advance ;)
After reading this thread and Gaius's I've decided to go DIY instead of buying premade. Got a bit of reasearch to do as I really have no idea what I'm doing yet, but I just wanted to say thanks for motivating me!
I'll be replacing two 1k lights over three 3x4 flood tables in a 5x10 tent on a...
Sweet build, the way you have the COB's spaced out is the same way I space my lady's on my 3x4 flood table so I may copy your design. I was looking at buying A51 or Apache but after reading this thread and Supra's I've decided to go DIY. Thanks for the motivation and idea!
I learned to grow with dwc, but had a lot of problems so switched to flood tables and have been rockin em since. they're pretty simple and easy. I'm getting ready to give drain to waste coco a try just to change it up and try something different. I kept some mothers in hempy's for a while and it...
If you decide to try it go to the hydro section and read superstoners "my 3 stages of flower" thread. he was in the stinkbud thread too and he's still going strong, but managed to fine tune and improve what stink had going. If you have any ?'s hit him up there and he will be able to help you...
I started off reading stinkbud's thread, but decided to start with something less advanced to learn how to grow, so I started with DWC. Ran that for a while, but had recurring issues with ph swings, slime, and root rot and decided to try ebb and flow. Since switching all my problems disappeared...
You need 3 flowering systems and a strain that is finished in 9 weeks. Every 3 weeks you rotate one into the cloner, the ones in the cloner into veg, and the one's in veg into flower (and harvest one in flower if your all the way up and running) Pretty simple, I've adopted the schedule only...
I change the rez every 2 weeks. In between I go by ppm's as to whether to top off with straight water or nutes. I run beneficial bacteria instead of a sterile res, but it works either way, that's just my preference. I flood every 2 hours lights on and once halfway through lights out just to make...
