First time grow 4 x 8 lighting suggestions

Neither of those two but I know who you are referencing. But thanks for mentioning as I know now to put you on ignore and save myself from further wasting my time. Regardless, if you don't want to educate yourself to resolve your ignorance then you can't expect those who are educated in those...

    Quantum Boards or COBS?

Still testing. I am in it for the research, not for selling product, which is far different than most here. While I understand the frustrations of a business operation, I don't appreciate the lack of understanding from parts of the business towards research. Indicas are traditionally from...

    Quantum Boards or COBS?

I have the heating issue as well so I have been trying different strains from colder regions of the world with the ambient being 18-24c. Lots of color, plants grow slower and their max DLI in veg is about 1/2 to 2/3 that of warmer region based plants. Besides, purple is all the rage these days.

First time grow 4 x 8 lighting suggestions

All light becomes heat does it? Interesting theory but technically correct if you look at the big picture and take into account the plant material being used as a fuel at some point. Then you got evaporation, sublimation.... a whole bunch of other processes that use light as an energy source...

    Quantum Boards or COBS?

Therein lies the problem - it is subjective. What you consider not great enough for additional cost is more than adequate for others. If I am to produce light I shall do so with the objective of using the power as efficiently as possible. Possible reasons could be but not limited to: 1. being...

    Quantum Boards or COBS?

It is actually the opposite. A single QB provides less options for adjustable coverage than multiple cobs running at the same power. You can spread the cobs out however you see fit whereas the single board is fixed. In my opinion cobs are also better because of the larger LES. You can get...

320w QB vs 300w Vero COB, what do you choose?

Skip the kits and buy the components direct first off. Vero fan here so that is where my vote went. The SE are so easy to deal with the poke in connectors it is simpler than lego. Going cobs gives you better options for spreading the light out for a given area.

    LED light intensity

Take or use? Take, as in the maximum amount of light it can absorb? No that comes from genetic traits and individual expression. The use of the absorbed light is far lower than what the plants can take. Plants only use 3-4% of sunlight. Use, is also is determined by genetics but can be...

    COB high bay LED fixture

The blurples are great for seedlings or as a medic/recovery ward for injured/sick plants. Pull the panels out and run them soft, similar to QBs. I have yet to find a blurple panel that got warm when running 50w through it. 100w ones double as a heating pad for the growing chamber above. Doesn't...

    Cannabis Daily Light Integral

Water is wet. Strain variances of course can handle different amounts at different stages of life but generally yes, those are what my starting points are. Adjust as necessary up or down, it only takes about 3 or 4 days to zero in. From there you can increase anywhere from 0.2-1.2 DLI/day...

    Cannabis Daily Light Integral

Sure. I seem to get punted a lot off this site but I still check back from time to time. Optimal DLI in veg I have found is 6-20. This is because it starts off low (eg. 50-100 ppfd) and increases as the plant can handle it. When it is time to flower, I continue to go higher ppfd to maintain...

    Cannabis Daily Light Integral

Either or works, and yes I have measured it with IR before. Now I don't bother as the droop is the indicator I use to adjust time on and ppfd hitting the canopy. That could be a reason if that was a problem but I have this dialed in quite well so I know that the drooping is a sign that the...

    Cannabis Daily Light Integral

It is easy enough to try it yourself. Besides this being the internet anyone can post anything they want whether it is correct or not. Plus not knowing the basics of plant biology is a good sign that you probably shouldn't be growing.

When it hits max DLI the leaves will start to droop so you can figure it out that way too.

Ouch. Kick him when he is down. Admitting one's inadequacy in a public forum is bad enough, made even worse being self inflicted and realized after the fact.

Iceled xtra ultra + vero 29

Veros are pretty good at heat transfer so you don't need much more than sheet aluminum. I have 6 29 Cs on a 10x6" 1/8th" sheet running 30-50w each. Just measured with IR meter and the sheet is 29c, 'LES" is 32c (probably off because of some IR from the light) in 21c ambient, 30% RH.
