I still like the look of Vero 29C Gen 7 below 1A at 185+ Lumens/Watt

I get that. I think its about trying to find the right balance between being too wet & too dry. If they are in a mix that dries out too fast, you are at risk of them simply dying, while you are looking in the other direction. If the mix stays too wet (like my 'seed raising mixture'), then they...

What a great tool. Sadly, it doesn't show anything below 1400mA but it does let you see what a big difference every variable can make Especially jct, as you said.

Thanks for your input guys. Does anyone know the efficacy (Lumens/Watt) of the CXB3590 @ 40-50W? So long as I beat that and spend less money than last time, I'll be pretty happy. The Veros are looking pretty good at the moment, at around 630mA

Stop now pal. You are just making things worse for yourself. I'm not that smart, but just reading your work is making me dumber. I think I must be absorbing your dumbness through convection, or is it conduction - I cant tell the difference now, but I'm sure I could ten minutes ago.. I think...

Can I run Vero29C 3500K 80cri on a 700mA driver @ 53.5v, or would that voltage be too low to fire them up?

Thanks mate, straight Aussie talking, right there. I'll have a close look at the Veros.

Woah! hold on a minnit. Now that I've invested a bit of my time in research, this thread is going to get seriously nerdy - sorry about that. I've had a look at a couple of datasheets and compared the CXB3590 3500k and CXM-22 3500k. I may be getting a bit muddled in my thinking and the test...

    New LEDS

Thanks for your help, I like the look of some of your deals. If I want to replicate the performance and beat the efficiency of 16xCXB3950 running at about 42W each, and I went with 9 bigger chips @75W - would the efficiency improve, or am I better off sticking with 16 units? Ongoing efficiency...

Nice, they are about $32 each, which is a start. Can I crank them up to 45W and still get > 150 Lumens/Watt?

    New LEDS

Thanks for your input but, if I want 3500K top bin, they look every bit as expensive as the 3590s to me (give or take $2). Maybe if I ran 8 (or 9), at around 80W, instead of 16 @45W. Does anyone know how to work out the relative efficiency? Have they been advertised cheaper than $50 (AUD)? @welight

    New LEDS

Hi team, Last year, I made a DIY light for my 4x4 tent with 16 x CXB3590s and 4 x 200W, 1400mA dimmable drivers. I'm currently running it at about 750W at the wall and the plants and spider-mites are loving it  Big thanks to Rollitup, @Growmau5 and @welight for inspiration and component...

Hi Vn, How did your NL5 x Skunk turn out. Healthy crop? Good yield? Satisfying smoke? I'm having a look at the the Mr Nice Auctions right now.

    Mixed spectrum COBs

Anyone or any plant, since there is an inverse relationship between wavelength and electromagnetically radiated energy. If I said "more photo-active radiation", would you be happier?

Any information on most optimal cob placements/layouts?

Brilliant to see the data represented like this. In my mind, for a 2x2 @HalfBee 's table makes it a No-Brainer to go 4x3590. The extra dough is almost negligible, compared to advantages in every other way - much more light, much less heat. (You wont miss the heat) There certainly won't be a hot...

    Mixed spectrum COBs

I'm running 16 CXB3590s in a 4x4. There is no definitive answer to your spectrum question in my view (and I've looked pretty hard). There are some principles however: The higher colour temperatures are generally more efficient, so you will get more actual usable light for the power consumed...
