My guess would be that they get massive pallets of this stuff. And maybe when a new shipment is incoming they need to make room so they liquidate it.

I guess if I had to do it again, maybe I'd use my EZclone. It's just lack of room. I have 99.9% success rate with cubes. It was just these that were problematic. I take a lot of clones with 0 issues.
